There is no publicly substantiated figure for what Birmingham City would have to pay Leeds United to sign Mateo Joseph. Leeds’ official announcements record Joseph’s loan to Mallorca and his contract through summer 2028, but disclose no Birmingham bid, Leeds asking price, release clause or agreed fee. Any specific amount would be speculation.
What Leeds’ official record says
- On 9 August 2025, Leeds announced that Joseph had joined RCD Mallorca on a season-long loan. The announcement did not state a fee for a later transfer to Birmingham. Leeds’ loan announcement
- Leeds’ official 2025 summer transfer roundup also lists Joseph’s move to Mallorca as a loan; it does not document a Birmingham offer. Leeds’ transfer roundup
- In January 2024, Leeds announced that Joseph had signed a contract running through summer 2028. The club did not disclose a release clause or valuation. Leeds’ contract announcement
- Leeds’ 2026–27 retained-list announcement does not report a Birmingham transfer or fee. That absence does not rule out private contact; it means the official record cited here does not establish one. Leeds’ retained-list announcement
Why the contract and loan do not reveal a price
The loan and contract term provide negotiating context, not a calculation. A player’s remaining contract can matter in transfer discussions, but Leeds has not published a valuation or clause that would show what Birmingham would need to pay.
Leeds previously announced Joseph’s arrival from Espanyol for an undisclosed fee. That was a separate earlier transaction, and it cannot establish the price of a future move to Birmingham.
What can be said about a possible Birmingham fee
No authoritative fee or asking price for a proposed Birmingham move is established by the official information cited above. Without a reliable, attributable report or a club disclosure, a precise estimate should not be presented as confirmed. The defensible answer is that the amount is not publicly known.
