Activate your Venmo Mastercard Debit Card in the Venmo app: open Cards, select Venmo Debit Card, tap Activate, enter the card’s CVV, and create or enter its PIN. Venmo says a green notification indicator confirms that the card is ready. These instructions are for the debit card, not the separate Venmo Credit Card.
What you need before activating
- The Venmo app and access to the account associated with the card.
- Your physical debit card, so you can enter its CVV.
- A card PIN to create during activation, or the PIN already set for the card.

How to activate the Venmo debit card
- Open the Venmo app and select the Cards tab.
- Choose the Venmo Debit Card section.
- Tap Activate.
- Enter the CVV printed on your card.
- Create a card PIN, or enter the PIN if one was already set.
- Look for the green notification indicator Venmo identifies as confirmation that the card is ready.
If you cannot access activation
You see “Get in Line”
Venmo says a “Get in Line” message means the account is not yet able to apply for the card. Venmo says it will email you when it is your turn; the message is not an activation error for a card you already have. Venmo Debit Card FAQ
Your card has not arrived
Venmo’s FAQ says an approved card should arrive within 10 business days. That is Venmo’s estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date. If the card has not arrived, check Venmo’s current card FAQ or contact support through the app.

Activate is missing or activation fails
Check that you selected the debit-card section, update the app if needed, and enter the CVV exactly as printed. Venmo’s activation instructions do not publish an error-code troubleshooting guide. If activation still fails, contact Venmo in the app at Me > Settings > Get Help > Chat With Us, or call the number printed on the back of the card. Venmo contact options
Eligibility and identity checks
Venmo says its debit card is available to most users, but access may not be immediate for every account. General account requirements include being physically in the United States, having a U.S.-based mobile number that can send and receive short-code texts, meeting the age requirement (18 or the age of majority in your state), and using a supported app version. Venmo notes that product-specific eligibility criteria may also apply. Its requirements page lists app version 7.38.2 or newer and iOS 17 or Android Lollipop (API 26) or newer; check the live page because compatibility requirements can change. Venmo account requirements

If the card is lost, stolen, or damaged
Do not try to activate a card you no longer have or suspect has been stolen. Venmo says most customers can request a replacement in the app. Review transactions for suspicious activity as part of handling a lost or stolen card. Protect your card details
Venmo says: “Venmo will never ask you for your Venmo Debit Card information, including the card number.” It also says customer service will never tell you to download another application to fix an issue. Do not provide card credentials or install an app at the request of someone claiming to be support; use the Venmo app or official Venmo site to reach support. Venmo Debit Card FAQ
Venmo lists in-app chat and the phone number on the back of the debit card as support routes for debit-card help. Card deactivation is available by phone 24 hours a day; live-agent hours are listed separately and may change, so check Venmo’s current contact page.
