Derby County’s latest located accounts show wages and salaries of £27,936,256 for the year ended 30 June 2025. Dividing that annual total by 52 gives an average of approximately £537,000 a week. It is a club-wide annual average—not a disclosed first-team player wage bill or the club’s exact weekly payroll today.
How the weekly estimate is calculated
The 2024/25 financial statements for Derby County (The Rams) Limited report £27,936,256 in wages and salaries. The arithmetic is:
£27,936,256 ÷ 52 = approximately £537,235 per week
Rounded to avoid suggesting more precision than a weekly average supports, that is about £537,000 a week. The figure is derived from the annual accounts; it is not a weekly payment figure published by the club. Derby County (The Rams) Limited’s 2024/25 accounts

What the accounts include—and what they do not
The £27.9 million figure is wages and salaries across the club, not a separate total for footballers. The accounts report an average monthly headcount of 72 playing staff and 154 non-playing staff, but do not divide the wage amount between those groups. They therefore do not establish how much Derby paid its first-team players alone.
The accounts also report total staff costs of £31,534,296. That wider measure adds £3,382,364 in social security costs and £215,676 in defined-contribution pension costs to wages and salaries. On the same 52-week basis, total staff costs average about £606,429 a week. This is an all-in staff-cost average, not wages alone. 2024/25 accounts

Why other weekly figures may differ
Reported wage figures are only comparable when they refer to the same workforce, accounting period and definition of costs. A player-only estimate is not directly comparable with club-wide wages and salaries, while total staff costs include employer costs beyond wages.
- Earlier accounts: BBC Sport reported total wages of £22 million for 2023/24, including £10.2 million in player salaries across 68 first-team and academy players. Those figures relate to the previous financial year, not the latest accounts. BBC Sport’s 2023/24 figures
- Third-party player estimate: SalarySport lists a 2024/25 player wage bill estimate of £294,227 a week. Its methodology is unverified, so it should be treated as an estimate rather than an audited club disclosure. SalarySport estimate
Put the figure in its financial-year context
Derby County’s announcement for the year ended June 2025 reported revenue of £31.9 million, up from £19.4 million, and described 2024/25 as the club’s first full season back in the Championship after promotion. The accounts also show wages and salaries rising from £19,634,487 in 2023/24 to £27,936,256 in 2024/25. Changes in transfers, broadcasting income and staffing can affect season-to-season comparisons.
