Cardiff City’s latest reported accounts show £29.19 million in player-related wages for the year ended 31 May 2025. Dividing that annual figure by 52 gives an average of about £561,346 per week, or roughly £561,000. It is an accounting average for that past financial year—not a published weekly payroll or a figure for Cardiff’s current 2026/27 squad.
What does the weekly average include?
The £29.19 million figure is player-related wages reported for Cardiff City Football Club (Holdings) Limited’s group in its accounts for the year ended 31 May 2025. The accounts were filed at Companies House on 26 February 2026. Companies House filing history records the filing and accounting period; Cover Wales’ report on the accounts gives the wage figure and related financial details.
The calculation is £29,190,000 ÷ 52 weeks = approximately £561,346 per week. This spreads the reported annual cost evenly across 52 weeks for comparison; it does not mean the club paid the same amount every week.
It is also not the total club payroll. The group reported £38.955 million in total staff costs, a broader figure that includes non-player staff and other costs. The £29.19 million wage line is group-level and does not disclose individual players’ contract amounts. Cover Wales reports that the group averaged 58 players and 222 employees during the year.

How does that compare with a current-season estimate?
For 2026/27, Capology estimates Cardiff’s gross fixed first-team salaries at £17,446,000 for the season, or £335,500 per week. Capology labels its figures as estimates, and this one excludes bonuses. It has a narrower scope than the filed accounts: estimated fixed first-team salaries for a season, rather than reported player-related wages across the group over a completed financial year. Capology’s Cardiff City salary page is the source for that estimate.
| Figure | Period and scope | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| £29.19 million; about £561,346 a week when divided by 52 | Year ended 31 May 2025 | Player-related wages reported for the group in its accounts; the weekly amount is a simple annual average. |
| £17,446,000; £335,500 a week | 2026/27 season | Capology estimate of gross fixed first-team salaries, excluding bonuses. |
These numbers should not be treated as contradictory measurements of the same thing. They cover different periods, use different sources and have different scopes. The 2025 accounts do not establish the club’s actual wage bill in 2026/27, while Capology’s estimate is not an audited accounts figure.

How have Cardiff’s reported player wages changed?
The club’s 2024 accounts reported £19.938 million in player-related wages for the year ended 31 May 2024, compared with £14.2265 million in the 2023 comparative figures. The increase from 2023 to 2024 was followed by the higher £29.19 million reported for the year ended May 2025. These are annual accounting figures, not weekly amounts or individual salary disclosures. Cardiff’s official 2023/24 accounts supporter update discusses that year’s accounts and uses the broader phrase “player related costs” for a £5.712 million increase; that broader cost measure should not be confused with the wages line.

The latest accounts identified in the Companies House filing history cover the year ended 31 May 2025. The next accounts are due to cover the year ended 31 May 2026 and are due by 28 February 2027. Until those are filed, the 2025 annual figure remains historical context rather than confirmation of the current-season weekly cost.
