The deal was worth billions at the company level, but public records cited here do not disclose Nagle’s personal proceeds or establish a verified net worth. His other documented business interests include real estate, venture capital, private equity and sports.
How did Kevin Nagle make his money?
The clearest account is a sequence of pharmacy-benefit-management businesses. Nagle co-founded Integrated Pharmaceutical Services (IPS), then co-founded Envision Pharmaceutical Holdings and served as its CEO. Moneta Ventures says Envision grew to more than $5 billion in revenue under his stewardship; that is a company revenue figure, not Nagle’s income or personal wealth. Moneta Ventures’ biography describes both companies and his role.
Envision became a major pharmacy benefit manager (PBM)—a company that administers prescription-drug benefits—and Rite Aid acquired it in 2015. California State University describes Envision as the nation’s fifth-largest PBM before the acquisition. The CSU biography and Sacramento Republic FC’s 2018 biography both give the sale figure as $2.3 billion.
What was the Envision deal worth—and what did it mean for Nagle?
The $2.3 billion figure is a reported value for the Envision transaction, not a disclosed payment to Nagle. Rite Aid’s SEC-filed completion announcement describes the transaction as worth approximately $2 billion, including approximately $1.8 billion in cash and about 27.9 million Rite Aid shares. Rite Aid’s June 24, 2015 announcement supplies those components. CSU and Sacramento Republic FC use the $2.3 billion figure; the available sources do not fully reconcile the difference in valuation or framing.

The deal documents also explain why neither headline number reveals an individual seller’s take-home amount. The SEC filing says Envision interests and units were converted into sellers’ pro-rata shares of aggregate consideration under the companies’ waterfall provisions, net of debt and expenses and subject to tax withholding and adjustments. Rite Aid’s Form 8-K does not establish Nagle’s individual ownership share or proceeds. The public sources cited here therefore support the scale of the company sale, but not how much cash or stock Nagle personally received.

Biographies describe Nagle as president or owner of The Nagle Company, with interests in real-estate development, venture capital and private equity. Moneta Ventures identifies him as president and sole owner of The Nagle Company and says he serves on the investment board of its Funds I, II and III. Moneta’s profile and CSU’s biography outline these activities. These descriptions document areas of business activity; they do not provide their value or show what share of his wealth came from them.

Sports ownership is also part of his public profile. Companies House currently records Kevin Michael Nagle as a person with significant control of Huddersfield Town Association Football Club Ltd, with at least 75% of shares and voting rights and the right to appoint or remove directors. The Companies House record is evidence of current club control, not evidence that football generated his fortune. Sacramento Republic FC said in March 2023 that Nagle had begun the process to purchase Huddersfield Town; that statement records the start of the process, while the Companies House entry documents control.

What can—and can’t—be said about his wealth?
- Well supported: Pharmacy-benefit management, especially Envision, is the clearest documented source of Nagle’s wealth-building success.
- Company figures, not personal figures: The $2.3 billion and approximately $2 billion figures describe the Envision transaction under different sources and framing. Envision’s more than $5 billion in revenue describes the business, not Nagle’s earnings or net worth.
- Not established by these sources: Nagle’s personal proceeds from the sale, current net worth, and the value of his other investments.
