Eligible students in the U.S. can get HBO Max Basic with Ads for $5.49 per month for up to 12 months by verifying their current enrollment through UNiDAYS and redeeming the offer code. The offer is for students age 18 or older at accredited U.S. colleges or universities; a college email address by itself does not qualify.
How much is HBO Max for students?
As of October 8, 2026, HBO Max describes the UNiDAYS offer as 50% savings on the Basic with Ads monthly plan. The offer is limited to that plan and lasts up to 12 months. The regular prices below are listed by HBO Max before applicable taxes; they are not student-offer prices.

HBO Max lists the regular prices in its U.S. getting-started FAQ and the student price and term in its student discount instructions.
Who is eligible for the HBO Max student discount?
The offer is for students who are at least 18 and currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in the United States. UNiDAYS must verify the student’s status. The offer is U.S.-only and applies to Basic with Ads, not other plan tiers. See the eligibility details from UNiDAYS and HBO Max.

How do I get the HBO Max student discount?
- Sign in to UNiDAYS or create a free account, then verify your current student status.
- Find the HBO Max offer on UNiDAYS, select Get now, then select Reveal code.
- Copy the code and go to HBOMax.com/redeem.
- Apply the code. If you are a new subscriber, complete account setup and payment. If you are returning, sign in and confirm the plan change.
If you have trouble signing up or verifying your status, HBO Max directs students to contact UNiDAYS support.
Can I get HBO Max with my college email?
A college email alone is not enough to claim the discount. Your current enrollment must be verified through UNiDAYS. Follow the verification process there rather than relying on an email address as proof of eligibility.

What should current subscribers check before signing up?
If you already pay for HBO Max, manage your current subscription before joining through the student offer. Otherwise, you could be billed for two subscriptions. HBO Max also says that switching to a different plan ends the student discount when the new plan takes effect. Its subscription instructions explain these restrictions.
What happens after the 12-month discount?
The offer material reviewed does not state what a student account will pay after the discounted period or whether it automatically renews at that price. Check your account and the offer terms before renewal; do not assume the post-offer price from the regular plan prices.

Check for access through your school or provider first
Before paying, check whether your college or university, or another current provider, already includes HBO Max access. HBO Max notes that some colleges and universities include access. Its FAQ also says most HBO Max subscription providers do not offer free trials to new subscribers. See the HBO Max getting-started FAQ for those details.
