CEO Ilkka Paananen has described the company’s audience as around 300 million monthly actives in a February 2026 post reflecting on 2025. These are rounded, company-reported estimates of monthly activity—not an exact count of distinct people who have ever played a Supercell game.
Supercell’s latest reported audience
Supercell’s About Us page displays “~290m MAU” alongside five global live games. The page does not state an as-of date for that figure. The latest dated description located is CEO Ilkka Paananen’s February 10, 2026 post, The Best Games Haven’t Been Made Yet, which describes a player base of “around 300 million monthly actives” while reflecting on 2025.
The two figures are broadly consistent rounded estimates near 300 million. Supercell’s published materials do not explain whether their difference reflects rounding, reporting date, or measurement basis, so they should not be treated as exact, directly comparable counts.
What Supercell’s user number counts
MAU means monthly active users: people or accounts active in a given month, rather than everyone who has ever downloaded or played a game. Supercell describes its figures as monthly active players across its live-game portfolio. The materials cited do not provide a detailed counting method or explain how players who use multiple Supercell games are deduplicated.

Why downloads are not the same as users
A download is an installation event accumulated over time; MAU describes activity during a month. One person may download a game more than once, use multiple devices, or play more than one title. Supercell’s 2022 letter reported more than five billion cumulative downloads separately from 250 million monthly players across five games, underscoring that the measures answer different questions.
That 2022 letter named Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars among the five games covered by its monthly-player count. Supercell’s current About Us page lists five global live games, but it does not date the audience figure or provide a title-by-title breakdown.
