Reports put Canelo Álvarez’s compensation for his September 13, 2025, fight with Terence Crawford at about $150 million, though another estimate gave a range of $100 million to $150 million. Neither figure is a verified final payout, and the available reporting does not establish how much Álvarez kept after taxes, fees, or other costs.
What was Canelo Álvarez’s reported payout?
The most commonly reported figure was about $150 million. The Guardian reported before the bout that Álvarez was expected to earn around that amount, including at least $80 million as part of his Riyadh Season deal. The Guardian’s September 12, 2025, preview was updated September 14.
BBC Sport also reported a $150 million purse figure after the fight, but cautioned that boxing purses are difficult to verify. BBC Sport’s September 14, 2025, coverage described the figure as one to take “with a pinch of salt.”
Why do reports give a range?
Sporting News México summarized a reported estimate of $100 million to $150 million, attributing it to Sports Illustrated. The report said the estimate could involve Álvarez’s Riyadh Season contract as well as Netflix-related income and ticket sales; it should not be read as a confirmed itemized breakdown. Sporting News México’s September 14, 2025, report gives that range.

These figures may describe different combinations of expected compensation and event-related revenue. The available reporting does not provide a verified final ledger showing what was guaranteed, what was earned from specific revenue streams, or what was ultimately paid.
How much did Terence Crawford reportedly make?
Crawford said he would receive $10 million for the fight, according to Sporting News México’s report of his comments on the Ring Champs with Ak & Barak podcast. Why isn’t there an official final figure?
Neither a verified final purse amount nor Álvarez’s net earnings are established by the cited reporting. CBS Sports reported that exact payouts were unlikely to be disclosed after changes to Nevada regulations that had once required purse figures to be public. CBS Sports’ September 14, 2025, report explains the disclosure issue.
That distinction matters for a personal-finance question: a reported purse or compensation estimate is not the same as after-tax take-home pay. The sources do not establish Álvarez’s tax bill, team expenses, fees, or other deductions, so they cannot support a net-income figure.
