Which price is relevant to your purchase?
For a general-purpose PS5 with discs
The standard PS5 with a disc drive costs ¥97,980 and includes the drive. It is ¥8,000 more than the standard Digital Edition, which does not include a drive. If you want to play physical game discs or Blu-ray media, compare the digital console’s price plus the cost of the compatible drive rather than treating the two console prices as equivalent.

For the lowest listed new-console price
The ¥55,000 Japanese-language-only Digital Edition is the least expensive model in Sony’s listed lineup, but it is not a like-for-like substitute for a standard PS5. Sony specifies Japanese-only console language and a Japan-region PlayStation account for this model. That makes the restrictions especially important to check if you use an account from another region or need another console language.
For more storage and the Pro model
PS5 Pro costs ¥137,980 and has 2TB of storage according to Sony’s Summer 2026 catalog. That is ¥40,000 above the standard disc-drive PS5 price. Its compatible disc drive is optional rather than included.

What a separate disc drive adds
Sony’s Summer 2026 catalog lists the detachable CFI-ZDD1J Ultra HD Blu-ray drive at ¥11,980 tax included. Sony says it is compatible with the Japanese-language-only CFI-2200B01, standard Digital Edition CFI-2000B01, and PS5 Pro; it is not compatible with the CFI-1000 model group. Confirm the console’s exact model number before buying the accessory. The standard disc-drive PS5 already includes its drive.

Sony’s published figures are Japan-wide recommended retail prices. They establish a useful baseline, but they do not establish a particular Tokyo retailer’s current price, stock, discount, purchase restrictions, tourist tax-free eligibility, or final checkout total. Before making a trip or placing an order, check the retailer’s live listing for the exact model number and the amount payable.
