How Much Does It Cost to Put a Game on the Epic Games Store?

The Epic Games Store charges a $100 submission fee per product, plus applicable local taxes. The fee is paid upfront and recouped only after the product reaches $1,000 in qualifying revenue.

Epic charges a $100 USD submission fee per product, plus local taxes where applicable. You pay during product setup; Epic says it will recoup the fee in a later payment after that product reaches $1,000 in qualifying revenue from Epic Games Store purchases and in-game purchases made through Epic Payment Platform. That is the direct store submission charge—not a complete estimate of what it costs to develop, operate, or market a game.

What the $100 Epic Games Store fee covers

Epic’s developer documentation sets the fee at $100 USD, or the local-currency equivalent, for each product you intend to distribute. The product questionnaire is also completed once per product. If you plan to submit multiple products, calculate the submission fee for each one rather than treating $100 as an organization-wide account charge. Epic’s organization and product setup documentation describes the fee and payment process.

The fee is paid during product setup. Epic describes it as non-refundable, but says the amount is recouped through a payment after the product earns at least $1,000 in qualifying Epic Games Store and Epic Payment Platform revenue. In practical terms, you still need to pay the fee upfront; the recoupment is conditional on later revenue, not a waiver at submission.

What else you may need to budget for

The $100 is the only fixed store submission charge established in Epic’s fee documentation. It is not a total publishing budget. Development, localization, age ratings, porting, customer support, legal or accounting work, and marketing may add costs depending on your game and plans; Epic’s cited documentation does not set prices for those items.

Publishing also takes work beyond paying the fee. Epic describes a process that includes onboarding, creating an early-awareness product home page, finalizing and testing configurations, submitting for final review, and releasing the product. The overview provides general completion-time guidance but says timing can vary with business needs, request volume, and configuration complexity. It does not quote a separate fixed review charge. See Epic’s publishing overview.

Before distribution, developers also need to complete organization agreements and provide trader, tax, and payout information. These are setup requirements, not additional fixed fees specified in the cited fee documentation.

Is the fee refundable, and do you get it back?

Epic calls the fee non-refundable. Separately, its documentation says the fee is recouped in a payment once the product reaches $1,000 in qualifying revenue. The distinction matters: a developer who does not reach that threshold should not assume the fee will be returned, and the recoupment does not remove the need to pay at setup.

Store pricing and revenue share are separate questions

The game’s selling price is not included in the submission fee. Epic offers regional price suggestions and lets developers submit custom regional price tiers for review. Its pricing guidance says regional prices account for exchange rates, local purchasing power, and market norms; it also describes restrictions on changing prices near discounts. Epic’s documentation listed 43 supported local currencies when accessed in 2026, but the supported list can change. Check Epic’s current regional pricing guidance.

Epic’s official community page headlines a revenue-share update as 100% of the first $1 million per product per year and also references an 88% share and Epic First Run. Those are program headlines, not enough information to calculate what a specific developer will net. The retrieved announcement does not establish all eligibility rules, the applicable revenue calculation, or whether a particular game qualifies. For a forecast, check the current distribution agreement and program terms rather than assuming either rate applies to every product. Review Epic Developer Community announcements.

A simple way to estimate the direct platform cost

  1. Count the products: the $100 USD submission fee applies per product, not once per organization.
  2. Account for currency and tax: convert using the local-currency equivalent Epic presents during setup and add local taxes if applicable.
  3. Plan for the upfront payment: pay during product setup, without relying on the later recoupment before the product reaches the stated threshold.
  4. Build a separate project budget: estimate production and other project expenses independently; the submission fee does not cover them.
  5. Model proceeds using current terms: verify the product’s applicable revenue-share agreement and any program eligibility before forecasting net revenue.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
