No current, verified count of Richard Branson’s personal private jets is established by the available sources. The clearest direct evidence is a 2013 interview in which he said he owned a Falcon 50EX; that historical statement does not confirm what he owns today.

What did Branson say he owned?

In a 2013 interview with Business Jet Traveler, Branson was asked, “What airplane do you own?” He answered: “A Falcon 50EX. I need a small plane just to get out of the British Virgin Islands. And I use that for shorter distances.” This confirms what he said he owned at the time of the interview, not his present-day aircraft inventory.

The interviewer also said Branson had owned a Falcon 900EX but had sold it “not long ago.” It should not be counted as an aircraft he still owned when the interview took place.

Why is there no reliable current count?

The 2013 interview is a dated ownership statement, and the available official profile of Richard Branson on Virgin.com does not give a current private-aircraft count. That profile’s silence does not establish that he owns no aircraft; it simply does not answer the question.

Do Virgin Atlantic’s aircraft count as Branson’s private jets?

No. Virgin Atlantic’s commercial aircraft are operated by the airline and are not evidence of Branson’s personal ownership. The airline says its first aircraft was a Boeing 747 leased from Boeing and that it operated 30 747s over its history. Those are airline fleet facts, not a tally of Branson’s private jets. Virgin Atlantic’s fleet information likewise describes aircraft operated by the company.

The same distinction applies to Ruby Rebel, registration G-VSRB. Virgin Atlantic says the airline’s A330neo was named in homage to Branson; that honour does not make the aircraft his personal jet. Virgin Atlantic’s announcement identifies it as an airline aircraft.
