Sky Sports reported on 6 June 2025 that The Daily Telegraph had estimated Tottenham could face compensation of around £4 million if it dismissed Postecoglou. The estimate was made before the club announced his departure; it should not be described as the amount Tottenham ultimately paid. Sky Sports’ report is the source for that attributed figure.
Tottenham’s announcement on 6 June said Postecoglou had been “relieved of his duties” following a review of performances and reflection. It did not include a compensation figure. The club also said it would remember his contribution “with gratitude and pride.” The club statement confirms the departure and its stated rationale, not the terms of any settlement.
Why was he dismissed after winning a trophy?
