Press estimates put Daniel Radcliffe’s compensation for the eight Harry Potter films at roughly $106 million to $108 million, but no public studio payment records establish an exact total. The commonly repeated per-film figures are estimates, the second film’s reported amount conflicts, and the available sources do not establish a specific merchandise royalty or backend payment.

Reported pay for each Harry Potter film

The figures below are reported estimates in US dollars, not verified payroll records. Parade’s 2026 breakdown attributes its list to Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné’s May 2026 article attributes its list to CBS. The two reports disagree on Chamber of Secrets.

Film Release year Reported estimate
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (released as Philosopher’s Stone in some markets) 2001 $1 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné/CBS)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002 $3 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth) or $2 million (AlloCiné/CBS)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 $6 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné/CBS)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005 $11 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné/CBS)
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 $14 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné/CBS)
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009 $24 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné/CBS)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 2010 $25 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné/CBS)
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 2011 $25 million (Parade/Celebrity Net Worth; AlloCiné/CBS)

Summing the listed estimates gives $106 million using the $2 million Chamber of Secrets figure, or $107 million using $3 million. AlloCiné separately reports a $108 million total, so its itemized figures do not add up to its stated total. These differences should not be silently reconciled: the sources do not provide contracts or payment records that would settle them.

What the reported total does—and does not—mean

The roughly $108 million figure is a press-reported estimate of film compensation, not an audited total or confirmed take-home amount. AlloCiné also describes $95.6 million as the amount Radcliffe “touched” after taxes, based on its account of CBS reporting. That is a secondary-reported after-tax estimate, not a verified bank balance or net-worth figure. Parade also reports $95.6 million as a franchise total, illustrating that published accounts do not consistently distinguish gross compensation, after-tax estimates, and total franchise earnings.

#1 Best Overall

For context, Forbes reported on June 11, 2008, that Radcliffe had signed a contract estimated at $50 million to continue in the final two installments, after the final book was divided into two films. That was a contemporaneous estimate for a contract covering both films; Forbes did not disclose an exact payment allocation between them. It is not a separate verified salary figure for either individual installment.

Forbes also listed Radcliffe’s “Pay” as $25 million for June 2007 through June 2008. Its yearly earnings estimate could include paid endorsements, films, and other ventures, was rounded, and excluded management, agent, and attorney fees. It should not be treated as the fee for one Potter film.

What Radcliffe said about the reported fees

In a 2009 Guardian profile, reporter Stuart Jeffries described a rumor that Radcliffe began at £60,000 per film and later commanded £6 million. Radcliffe did not confirm those figures. He replied: “Apparently. I don’t know. I don’t take an interest. I’m not taking it for granted – I’m very, very lucky because I can do whatever I choose for the rest of my career. I can be very selective, which will be a joy. But I’m clueless about the money side of things.” The pound-denominated rumor is distinct from the later dollar estimates and should not be added to them.

Did Daniel Radcliffe earn royalties from merchandise?

The reviewed public reports do not establish whether Radcliffe received Harry Potter merchandise royalties, what rate might have applied, or how much he might have received. AlloCiné says its salary list does not establish whether merchandise payments were included in his contracts and excludes any possible box-office participation; Parade likewise says exact royalty figures are not publicly known. Without disclosed contract terms or payment records, there is no reliable merchandise amount to add to the film estimates.
