Temu’s affiliate program is a real referral program, but it does not guarantee earnings. Participants share approved links or codes and may receive rewards when eligible new users complete qualifying actions under the terms for their market. Temu advertises order commissions of up to 30%, a conditional maximum—not a typical rate or promise. Separately, a U.S. Federal Trade Commission matter concerns alleged marketplace disclosure and reporting failures; it does not establish that Temu’s affiliate program is fraudulent.
How does Temu’s affiliate program work?
Temu’s Affiliate Program FAQ describes a four-step process: register, access affiliate tools, share a referral link or code through an approved channel, and earn rewards if referred users meet the offer’s qualifying conditions.

- Register. Temu says joining is free. It says you do not need a website or a large audience.
- Get your promotional materials. The program provides referral links, codes, promotional creatives, and a dashboard.
- Share through permitted channels. Temu lists social groups, online communities, forums, deal-sharing platforms, and content websites among the channels participants can use. Follow the current local program rules for any channel you choose.
- Wait for qualifying activity and verification. Rewards depend on eligible referrals, orders, or active campaign offers. Temu says it verifies traffic before withdrawals; a click alone does not guarantee a reward.
Potential rewards described by Temu include qualifying referral rewards, commissions on eligible orders, and temporary campaign or race bonuses. Offers, reward rates, eligible users and actions, qualification windows, and thresholds vary by market and campaign. Check the terms shown in your local dashboard before promoting an offer or relying on a potential payout.
What does “up to 30% commission” mean?
Temu advertises commissions of up to 30% on eligible orders in its FAQ. “Up to” describes a conditional ceiling, not a standard commission rate, expected earnings figure, or guarantee. The actual rate and whether an order qualifies depend on the offer and local terms. The FAQ does not establish an average affiliate income or conversion rate.

A referral may fail to qualify if the user is not eligible, misses a required time window, cancels or returns an order, or otherwise does not satisfy the applicable rules. Temu gives one example for a coupon-code referral route: the referred user must redeem the code within one hour after downloading the app and place a qualifying order within 30 days. Those are conditions for the route described in the FAQ, not universal deadlines for every campaign or market.
Is Temu’s affiliate program legit?
In the sense that it is an official program described by Temu, yes: its FAQ sets out registration, promotional tools, referral tracking, verification, and reward mechanics. That documentation does not prove that a particular participant will earn money, that every referral will track, or that buying a promoted product is a good deal. Treat prospective earnings as uncertain, and do not describe the advertised maximum as a typical result.

Temu says the program is available in “More than 80+ countries and regions,” while also warning that availability and terms vary by market. Confirm that the program and the specific offer are available where you live rather than assuming one country’s terms apply elsewhere.
What does the FTC matter say—and what does it not say?
In September 2025, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission announced that Whaleco, Inc., Temu’s operator, would pay $2 million to resolve allegations that it failed to provide information and tools required to help consumers avoid and report stolen, counterfeit, or unsafe goods. The FTC described alleged shortcomings involving reporting mechanisms and seller disclosures, including on gamified listings and mobile experiences. The FTC’s case page listed the matter as pending when reviewed; the agency’s September 2025 announcement describes the proposed resolution.

This is a U.S.-specific matter about alleged marketplace disclosure and reporting obligations. It is not a finding that the affiliate program itself is fraudulent, nor does it establish that every Temu transaction or product is unsafe. It is relevant context for anyone recommending products: do not treat affiliate-program legitimacy as a substitute for assessing a product or making accurate claims about it.

- Open the official Temu affiliate dashboard for your market and read the current offer terms, including who counts as a new user, what action qualifies, the reward rate, and any time window or threshold.
- Use the link or code generated for the relevant offer, and check that the dashboard records activity as expected.
- Do not count clicks, pending activity, or a campaign’s advertised maximum as earned money. Temu says traffic is verified before withdrawal, and cancellations, returns, ineligible users, or missed conditions can prevent qualification.
- If you endorse Temu or a product in content, clearly disclose your affiliate relationship. Keep claims about a product accurate and distinct from claims about how the referral program works.
Temu’s “Partner Platform” terms concern partner accounts in the U.S. and EU; the affiliate FAQ describes referral links, codes, commissions, and new-user rewards. Do not assume those are interchangeable programs.
