Anders Holch Povlsen’s wealth is estimated at £8.287 billion in the 2026 Sunday Times Rich List, which attributes his fortune to fashion businesses including Bestseller and ASOS. The estimate rose from £7.704 billion in 2025. Separately, reporting says he owns more than 220,000 acres in Scotland, but the cited coverage does not value that land or show how much it contributes to his fortune. He was not identified as the buyer when Sheffield Wednesday was taken over in May 2026: Arise Capital Partners completed that acquisition.
How much is Anders Holch Povlsen worth?
The Sunday Times Rich List 2026 put Povlsen’s estimated wealth at £8.287 billion, up from £7.704 billion in its 2025 list, according to The Press and Journal’s 15 May 2026 report. A Rich List figure is an estimate, not an audited personal balance sheet or a disclosure of the value of each asset.
The available reporting does not provide a consolidated valuation of Povlsen’s private holdings or an asset-by-asset calculation explaining the estimate. It identifies fashion businesses and Scottish land as parts of the broader picture, but does not establish how much each contributes.
Which businesses are behind the fortune?
Bestseller: a major fashion business, not personal income
Bestseller is the clearest documented example of the scale of Povlsen’s business interests in the cited reporting. For its financial year ending in July 2024, the company reported revenue of DKK 35.6 billion, down 4%, and pretax profit of DKK 5.3 billion, up 8%, according to FashionNetwork’s 14 October 2024 report. Retail-store sales grew 5%. These are company results; they are not figures for Povlsen’s personal income or a direct calculation of his wealth.
#1 Best Overall
FashionNetwork lists Bestseller brands including Vero Moda, Jack & Jones, Selected and Only. The company’s mixed results—lower revenue but higher pretax profit—also caution against describing its performance simply as growth. Bestseller CEO Anders Holch Povlsen said: “We are satisfied that we were able to deliver a strong profit but humbly acknowledge that top-line growth will be required going forward.”
ASOS: a dated ownership disclosure
The 2026 Rich List coverage also names ASOS in connection with Povlsen’s fortune. A major-holdings filing reproduced by Investegate in May 2025 disclosed 28.259450% of ASOS voting rights through Aktieselskabet af 5.5.2010 and a chain of controlled undertakings naming Povlsen. The filing concerned a threshold crossed on 1 May 2025; it is a dated disclosure, not confirmation of his current stake in October 2026.

What role does his Scottish land play?
The Press and Journal’s 2026 Rich List report says Povlsen owns more than 220,000 acres in Scotland, including a dozen Highland estates, and names Wildland Limited among his interests. The acreage provides context about his holdings, but the cited source gives no valuation for the land and does not quantify its share of his reported wealth.

No cited reporting identifies Povlsen as the buyer. Sheffield Wednesday’s administrators announced Arise Capital Partners as preferred bidder on 10 March 2026. The club named David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin and said the offer was the strongest available proposal at that point, though it was not enough to pay creditors 25p in the pound.

On 2 May 2026, BBC Sport reported that Arise had completed its purchase, ending Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership. The report described the group as led by David Storch. Neither the preferred-bidder announcement nor the completion report identifies Povlsen as an Arise member or buyer. The sources cited here therefore do not substantiate claims that he bid for or acquired the club.
