So the most accurate answer is three publicly listed core team members, not a confirmed total headcount.
Who is on Team Cherry’s current public roster?

Why do older sources name different people?
Team Cherry’s original Hollow Knight website described a team of three and profiled Gibson, Pellen, and David Kazi. That is a historical description of the original game’s team, not a current staff list.
In a Nintendo Australia interview published July 20, 2021, Team Cherry was described as a three-person studio comprising Gibson, Pellen, and Jack Vine. These are dated snapshots with different named rosters; they should not be combined into one list of people who all worked at the studio at the same time.

Does Team Cherry have exactly three employees?
No exact current employee total is established by the public sources here. The official About page names three core team members but does not call that an exhaustive employee list or distinguish employees from contractors and other collaborators.
LinkedIn places Team Cherry in its “2–10 employees” company-size band. That is a platform-reported range, not an exact headcount disclosed by the studio. It does not establish that Team Cherry has 10 employees.

What is the most accurate way to describe its size?
Call Team Cherry a small indie studio with three publicly listed core team members. This answers the question using the studio’s current named roster without implying that its total workforce is known. Its games include Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong, but the public roster alone does not establish how many people contributed to either game overall.
