Rare Beauty is the main asset behind the large estimates of Selena Gomez’s wealth, but $800 million is not a verified current net-worth figure. Bloomberg estimated her net worth at $1.3 billion in September 2024; Forbes put it at about $700 million in 2025. Those estimates differ substantially, and neither is an audited account of her assets and debts.

Is Selena Gomez really worth $800 million?

There is no single confirmed figure. The $800 million amount is best treated as a premise, not a settled valuation: published estimates have varied by hundreds of millions of dollars.

Publisher and date Estimate What the figure means
Bloomberg, September 2024 $1.3 billion Bloomberg’s estimate of Gomez’s net worth; the report attributed most of the estimated wealth to Rare Beauty. Source
Forbes, 2025 About $700 million Forbes’ estimate of her net worth, identifying her estimated 51% stake in Rare Beauty as her largest asset. Source

These are estimates published at different times, not contemporaneous measurements. The sources do not provide a public market price for Rare Beauty or a complete, audited breakdown of Gomez’s assets and liabilities. A private-company stake’s estimated value is not the same as cash its owner has received.

How did Selena Gomez build most of her estimated wealth?

Rare Beauty became the central asset

Launched in 2020, Rare Beauty grew into the principal business asset identified by both Bloomberg and Forbes in their estimates. Forbes described Gomez’s estimated ownership as 51% and her largest asset; Bloomberg’s September 2024 estimate assigned most of her wealth to the cosmetics company. The stake is an ownership interest in a private business, not a disclosed cash balance.

Sales growth drew attention to the brand

TIME reported that Rare Beauty had $400 million in sales for the 12 months ending in May 2024. It also reported that the company’s $23 Soft Pinch Liquid Blush generated $70 million in sales during 2023. Those figures describe company and product sales, not Gomez’s personal income, profit, or net worth. TIME’s May 2024 profile

What do Rare Beauty’s sales figures say about her personal fortune?

Sales measure money a business brings in from customers; they do not show what remains after costs, taxes, and other obligations, or how much an owner personally receives. Forbes reported Rare Beauty revenue of $367 million for 2023, while TIME reported $400 million in sales for the 12 months ending May 2024. The periods and reported measures differ, so they should not be treated as directly interchangeable. Neither figure is Gomez’s personal earnings.

To estimate an owner’s net worth, a publisher must also estimate what an ownership stake is worth and account for other assets and liabilities. With a privately held company, that stake does not have the routinely published market price of publicly traded shares. The cited estimates do not establish an exact current valuation for Rare Beauty or a complete personal balance sheet for Gomez. Forbes’ 2025 estimate

Did Selena Gomez plan to sell Rare Beauty?

In a May 2024 interview with TIME, Gomez said, “I don’t have any plans on that, genuinely,” when asked whether she planned to sell. TIME also reported that Rare Beauty’s CEO said the company had retained investment banks to help envision its future. Those statements do not establish that a transaction later occurred, or what the company might be worth in one. TIME, May 2024

What about Gomez’s acting and music work?

Gomez also works in acting and music, but the cited reporting does not provide a reliable, current, audited breakdown of her income from those activities. It would be misleading to assign them a precise share of her fortune or to present a detailed income mix as fact.

How does Rare Beauty support mental health?

Rare Beauty says it directs 1% of annual sales to the Rare Impact Fund, which supports mental health services in underserved communities. Sephora’s October 2025 newsroom post described its continuing Rare Beauty partnership and the fund’s youth mental health mission. The brand’s stated contribution is tied to sales, not a disclosed estimate of Gomez’s personal wealth. Rare Beauty’s Rare Impact information · Sephora’s Rare Impact page
