The sources reviewed do not verify that Lionel Messi’s current net worth is $600 million. Forbes estimated his career earnings at $1.8 billion before taxes and agents’ fees, a cumulative income figure that is not the same as wealth he still holds. Public reporting gives a clearer picture of his football income, endorsements and business interests than of his personal spending.
What does Lionel Messi’s $600 million fortune figure mean?
The $600 million figure in the original framing should not be treated as a confirmed current net-worth estimate. Forbes reported estimated career earnings of $1.8 billion before taxes and agents’ fees in its profile and June 2026 coverage. Career earnings add up income over time; they do not show how much remains after taxes, fees, spending, investment gains or losses, and liabilities. The sources reviewed do not establish Messi’s present net worth or the amount of wealth he has retained.
How Lionel Messi earns money
Football compensation
Club compensation has been a major source of Messi’s income. In 2024, Forbes reported that Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas described Messi’s guaranteed annual compensation as $50 million to $60 million, with the possibility of additional revenue-sharing deals involving Apple and Adidas. Those terms are a historical reported account, not a current official contract disclosure. Inter Miami’s own signing announcement documented an agreement through the 2025 MLS season; it does not establish the terms of any later agreement.
Endorsements and image rights
Forbes identifies Adidas as a lifetime endorsement partner and lists other commercial partners. The value of individual endorsement deals and Messi’s take-home income from them are not established in the sources reviewed.

#1 Best Overall
Spanish newspaper Cinco Días reported that Leo Messi Management handles image-rights business. Citing company accounts, it reported that the company had €86.2 million in revenue in 2023. That is company revenue, not Messi’s personal income or net worth. Cinco Días also described media-reported commercial arrangements involving Apple subscription revenue sharing and merchandise; these should not be mistaken for confirmed public contract terms.
Business interests
Forbes reports Messi’s investment in MiM Hotels and a stake in Edificio Rostower Socimi, a real-estate-focused company. Cinco Días also describes hotel and residential and commercial property interests. These reports establish business activity, but they do not provide a full current valuation, ownership breakdown, or account of cash distributions to Messi.
Rank #2
Cinco Días, citing company accounts, reported that Messi’s holding Limecu recorded $109.3 million in revenue and $15.1 million in profit in 2023. Those are company figures, not personal earnings. A company’s revenue is the money it brings in; profit is what remains under its accounting after expenses. Neither figure, on its own, shows what an owner personally received.
What is known about Messi’s spending?
There is no comprehensive public ledger in the sources reviewed showing Messi’s personal spending, taxes, liabilities, or retained wealth. The reporting supports describing hotels and real estate as business investments; it does not establish that particular properties are personal purchases or reveal how much he has spent on them. It also does not verify a complete list of personal homes, cars, yachts, or other major purchases with their dates, ownership, and values.
Rank #3
That distinction matters: investment activity may build or change wealth, but it is not proof of personal consumption. Without reliable reporting on outflows and assets, income and company accounts cannot be used to calculate a personal fortune.

| Figure | What it describes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| $1.8 billion, estimated by Forbes in its profile and June 2026 coverage | Career earnings before taxes and agents’ fees | Current net worth or money retained |
| $50 million to $60 million per year, reported by Forbes in 2024 | Guaranteed annual Inter Miami compensation as described by owner Jorge Mas | Current contract terms, total annual income, or take-home pay |
| $109.3 million revenue and $15.1 million profit in 2023, reported by Cinco Días in 2025 from company accounts | Limecu company results | Messi’s personal income or net worth |
| €86.2 million revenue in 2023, reported by Cinco Días in 2025 from company accounts | Leo Messi Management company revenue | Messi’s personal take-home pay or net worth |
The most defensible answer to “How does Lionel Messi make his money?” is that football compensation and endorsements are central, alongside business interests that include hotels and real estate. The available reporting does not show exactly how much he has kept or what he spends personally.
