The matching MobileSyrup roundup was published April 10, 2024, and covers offers for April 11–17, 2024. Its prices and promotions are a historical snapshot, not a list of deals confirmed to be available now.
What the April 2024 roundup reported
The roundup covered Canadian carriers and smaller providers, including Bell, Virgin Plus, Fido, Videotron, Koodo, Rogers, TELUS, Public Mobile, Chatr, Freedom Mobile, SaskTel, Eastlink, Fizz, Shaw, 7-Eleven SpeakOut, PC Mobile and Lucky Mobile. It mixed plan offers with device promotions and ongoing deals, so not every item represented a newly changed monthly plan.
A reported Virgin Plus price
One example was a 10 GB bring-your-own-device (BYOD) plan reported at $35 per month in Quebec and $40 per month in other regions. Those are the prices reported in April 2024; they should not be read as current offers.
Other promotion types
The roundup described prepaid data bonuses and line discounts, Fido add-a-line data and trade-in credits, Videotron Canada-France and international plans and bundle discounts, Koodo BYOD and perk offers, and Rogers and TELUS line, roaming, trade-in or device-return promotions. It also included promotions from the other providers listed above. Availability and eligibility varied by carrier and offer.

Device deals were separate from service-plan prices
The article also named phones and a tablet alongside its plan coverage. It reported a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE for $0 down with Sweet Pay on eligible two-year plans, and a Google Pixel 8 with $0 down and a stated monthly financing amount. It also mentioned iPhone 15 models, Samsung Galaxy S24 and other Galaxy devices, Motorola phones, and the 10th-generation iPad. These are historical references, not verified current prices or availability.
When assessing a promotion like these, separate the recurring service charge from device financing, trade-in credits and discounts tied to another service. A $0 upfront payment does not by itself establish the total handset cost.

What to check before relying on a carrier offer
Monthly prices can depend on where you live and on conditions attached to a specific promotion. Before choosing a plan, confirm the current terms directly with the provider, including:
- Your province or region and the monthly price that applies there.
- The data allowance and whether a bonus depends on a particular plan or automatic payments.
- Whether the offer requires BYOD, a new activation, online ordering, autopay or a bundle.
- Any activation or connection charge, contract or financing term, trade-in requirement, and taxes.
- Whether a handset discount is an ongoing credit or a one-time benefit, and the full device cost over the financing period.
Is the same deal available this week?
The article’s “this week” refers specifically to April 11–17, 2024. It does not establish which prices or promotions remain available on October 8, 2026, or whether a later edition of the roundup was intended. Check provider offer pages for current terms before switching or budgeting around a quoted price.
