BleepingComputer reported on September 29, 2025, that a Harrods customer-data breach affected 430,000 records. Harrods said the information came from a third-party provider’s system and was limited to basic identifiers and contact details where provided—not account passwords or payment details. The figure is attributed to the report; the available reporting does not independently validate it.
What happened?
Harrods said a third-party provider informed it on September 26, 2025, that customer data had been taken from the provider’s system. Harrods began notifying affected customers. The company described the incident as isolated and separate from attempted access against some of its own systems earlier in 2025. The provider has not been named, and the available reporting does not establish a technical connection between the incidents. ITV reported Harrods’ initial account on September 27; BleepingComputer reported further details on September 29.
How many records were affected?
BleepingComputer reported that 430,000 customer records were affected. This is the reported count, not an independently audited total established by the available sources. It does not mean every Harrods customer was affected.
What information was exposed?
Harrods said the affected personal data was limited to basic identifiers, including names and contact details where provided. It said passwords and payment details were not included. Some records could also contain marketing or service labels, such as a customer’s tier level or affiliation with a Harrods co-branded card. Harrods cautioned that an unauthorized person was unlikely to interpret those labels accurately. The reporting does not detail the specific contact fields in every record.

Is this connected to the earlier attempted access?
Harrods said the third-party-provider incident was separate from attempted access against some Harrods systems earlier in 2025. The sources do not name the provider, describe the attack technique, identify the attacker, or establish a technical link between the events. Details or attribution from the earlier incident should not be assumed to apply here.
What did Harrods do?
Harrods said it notified affected customers and relevant authorities. It also said it had received communications from the threat actor and would not engage with them. ITV reported the company’s statement: “We have received communications from the threat actor and will not be engaging with them.”
