Gwyneth Paltrow’s Brentwood home sold for a reported $22 million, but the January 2025 fires did not prompt the sale: the property was reportedly already under contract before the blazes began. News reports said it was threatened by nearby fires but escaped damage.

How much did Gwyneth Paltrow sell her Los Angeles home for?

The Mandeville Canyon property in Brentwood sold for $22 million, according to Realtor.com and Architectural Digest. Realtor.com reported that the transaction closed on January 27, 2025.

The reported sale price was below both asking prices during the listing period:

Stage Price Timing
Initial asking price About $29.9 million Listed in May 2024, according to Architectural Digest
Reduced asking price $24.9 million Reduced in October 2024, according to Architectural Digest
Reported sale price $22 million Closed January 27, 2025, according to Realtor.com

Was Paltrow’s Brentwood home damaged in the fires?

Reports said the home was threatened by nearby California fires but remained unscathed. Realtor.com also reported that it was under contract before the fires began. The sale therefore should not be described as a fire-driven transaction, and the reports do not say the house burned.

When did Paltrow buy the home, and why was she leaving?

Paltrow and Chris Martin bought the property in 2012 for $9.95 million, according to Realtor.com and Architectural Digest. Reports say Paltrow retained the home after their divorce.

Coverage attributed the decision to move on partly to her children leaving home and her plans to divide her time among Los Angeles, the Hamptons, and Montecito. That explanation is reported context, not a documented transaction motive.

What was the Brentwood property like?

Reports describe a 1950s home with extensive amenities, including a guesthouse, an apartment above the garage, a stable, gym, wine cellar, office, game room, and home theater. The kitchen was reported to have double cooktops or ranges and a wood-burning oven. Accounts differ on the home’s bedroom, bathroom, and size figures: Architectural Digest describes about 8,000 square feet, six bedrooms, and eight bathrooms, while Realtor.com lists eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. Those figures are not consistent across reports, so a single definitive count is not established.
