There is no well-supported, like-for-like list of the 10 most expensive chains currently owned by rappers. The strongest documented figure in the available reporting is a historical auction result: GQ reported that Pharrell Williams’s 2005 N.E.R.D. chain sold at Joopiter for $2.1 million in 2023, with Drake as the buyer. Other figures refer to different objects or to an owner’s account of what he paid, so they cannot be treated as comparable current valuations.
Here are the reported prices that can be attributed to a source, with the type of evidence made explicit. This is a roundup of documented examples—not a certified ranking of ten current owners.
What the reported prices actually measure
A jewelry price can describe a completed auction sale, what an owner says a piece cost, or an estimate. Those are different kinds of evidence: an auction result records a transaction at a particular time, while a past purchase price does not establish today’s resale value. A figure may also apply to a pendant or a group of items rather than to a chain alone.
The available reporting does not establish ten chains with comparable prices and verified current owners. The examples below are therefore grouped by what the source says the number represents, rather than forced into a top-ten order.

Reported auction results for Pharrell Williams’s jewelry
GQ reported in 2023 that pieces from Pharrell Williams’s collection sold at his Joopiter auction. The reported results below are historical sale prices, not present-day appraisals.
| Piece | Reported amount | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| Pharrell’s 2005 N.E.R.D. chain | $2.1 million | Reported Joopiter auction sale price; GQ reported that Drake bought it. |
| Pharrell’s brain chain | $150,000 | Reported Joopiter auction sale price. |
| Pharrell’s dual skateboard pendant | $103,000 | Reported Joopiter auction sale price for the pendant, not a chain-only comparison. |
GQ’s account of Pharrell’s Joopiter auction reports these figures. The N.E.R.D. chain’s $2.1 million result is the strongest high-price example in the reporting, but it does not show what the piece is worth now or establish that Pharrell still owns it.

Big Sean’s reported purchase price
In a 2012 GQ interview, Big Sean said his Verbal-made pow chains cost about $15,000 each. That is his account of the purchase price, not a documented auction result or a current valuation. He also said Kanye West gave him his first Jacob the Jeweler Jesus piece; the interview does not provide a price for that gift.

Why a definitive list of 10 does not hold up
- The figures are not consistently comparable. The reported examples mix an auction sale, an owner-stated cost, and different types of jewelry.
- Past ownership is not current ownership. A rapper appearing with a piece or once owning it does not establish that they own it today. In the N.E.R.D. chain’s case, GQ reported Drake as the auction buyer.
- Some tempting numbers do not price a chain. A surfaced BET excerpt from the 2020 Hip Hop Awards associates $100,000 with Juicy J’s watches, not a verified chain price.
- Estimates are not sale prices. A third-party estimate should not be presented as a confirmed transaction or as a current market value.
For a broader look at the jewelry and its cultural context, GQ describes Pharrell Williams’s Carbon, Pressure & Time: A Book of Jewels as examining hip-hop jewelry culture and his collection: GQ on Pharrell’s book.
