It did report longer-than-usual telephone banking waits. This is a snapshot of what Halifax reported at that time—not proof that every customer’s service was working. Check the page again for the latest update.
Is Halifax down right now?
Halifax’s status page is the best first check for reported service availability, planned work and fixes. At the time of the check above, its wording for the relevant categories was “There’s no work planned.” That does not rule out a new or unreported issue, or a problem affecting only your account or device. The phone-wait notice is separate from app and online-banking availability; it does not mean those digital services are down.
If Halifax’s status page shows no issue but you still cannot sign in, treat it as an access problem that needs support rather than assuming there is a bank-wide outage. Halifax’s Help centre provides official support routes.
What to do if the Halifax app or online banking will not work
If you can still sign in
Registered online-banking customers can send a secure message through Halifax. The virtual assistant may answer your question or pass it to a person. See Message us online.

If you cannot use digital banking
Halifax’s online-banking helpdesk is 0345 602 0000, or +44 113 279 8302 from outside the UK. The listed hours are 8am–6pm, seven days a week, closed on bank holidays. Confirm the current details on Halifax’s Call us page.
If a Halifax payment or transfer is affected
For domestic payments and money movement, Halifax lists 0345 720 3040, or +44 113 242 1984 from outside the UK. The listed hours are 8am–6pm, seven days a week, closed on bank holidays.

A contact number does not tell you whether a particular pending payment succeeded. Check your transaction history or contact Halifax before trying again if repeating the payment could create a duplicate.
If you suspect fraud
Use Halifax’s dedicated 24/7 fraud lines. For suspected debit- or credit-card fraud, call 0800 015 1515 or, from outside the UK, +44 113 242 8196. For suspected online-banking fraud, call 0800 500 3914 or, from outside the UK, +44 113 288 8408. Check the numbers on Halifax’s official contact page; do not rely on a number sent in an unsolicited message or shown in a search ad.

Which app should Halifax customers use?
Halifax says its brand is changing to Lloyds and customers who use the Halifax app or online banking will be invited to start using the Lloyds app, where they can continue to manage Halifax accounts. Follow the latest instructions in the app and on Halifax’s official guidance. The transition alone is not evidence that it caused a service problem.

Halifax’s regulatory Personal Service Quality Information reported 7 reportable operational or security incidents from 1 April to 30 June 2026, and 22 from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. These are group-level disclosures, not a live outage counter or a count of unique Halifax customers affected.

Halifax says the figures include Halifax personal current-account holders, Bank of Scotland personal current-account holders and business current-account holders. An incident affecting multiple channels counts once in the total, so channel figures may not add up to that total.
