Amazon advertised two free First Reads Kindle books for Prime members during its U.S. Prime Big Deal Days event on October 6–7, 2026. Those dates have passed, and Amazon’s announcement does not identify the titles or a separate claim deadline, so check Amazon’s current First Reads page before assuming the October promotion is still available.
What Amazon’s two-book October offer meant
Amazon’s U.S. Prime Big Deal Days announcement promoted two free Amazon First Reads Kindle books for Prime members in connection with the October 6–7, 2026 event. The announcement describes an event offer, not a permanent increase to the monthly First Reads benefit. Amazon’s event announcement does not name the October books or state a claim cutoff.
How the October offer differs from regular First Reads
Amazon’s general description says Prime members get early access to one Kindle book from a new selection each month. It says a bonus short read is available in select months, rather than promising two full-length books every month. Amazon also describes First Reads and Amazon Original Stories as included with Prime at no additional cost. Amazon’s First Reads overview is the source for the recurring benefit.
| Description | Quantity and timing | What Amazon says |
|---|---|---|
| Regular First Reads benefit | One early-access Kindle book per month; a bonus short read is available in select months. | Included with Prime, according to Amazon’s September 2026 overview. |
| October 2026 Prime Big Deal Days promotion | Two free First Reads Kindle books, promoted for the October 6–7 event. | For Prime members, according to Amazon’s U.S. Press Center announcement dated September 14, 2026; the announcement does not identify the titles or a claim deadline. |
Amazon’s early-deals article describes one First Reads Kindle book plus a bonus short read. The available wording does not establish whether that short read was counted as one of the two books in the event announcement, so it is safest not to assume how Amazon counted them. Can you still claim the October books?
The event dates have passed. The retrieved Amazon announcement does not specify a separate claim deadline or confirm whether the October books remain available now. Check the live First Reads offer in your Amazon account; do not rely on the event announcement alone as evidence that the promotion can still be claimed.
A third-party article published October 5, 2026 reported October selections and a $1.99 price for non-Prime members, but those details are not confirmed by the Amazon pages cited here. They should not be treated as official offer terms.

Do you need a Kindle device?
Amazon’s materials identify the benefit as Kindle books, but the pages cited here do not say that buying a Kindle e-reader is required. A Kindle is optional dedicated reading hardware; Amazon’s setup guidance covers registering one to an Amazon account and connecting it to Wi-Fi, but does not establish it as an eligibility condition.
