Pure Watercraft entered a Washington state receivership in July 2024, and its receiver reported that the electric-boating company was being liquidated with no operations. In April 2025, meeting minutes recorded Raider Outboards’ president saying his company had acquired Pure Watercraft assets. That account does not establish that Raider bought the entire company or every asset, and the sources do not confirm current retail availability of Pure Watercraft motors.
How GM became involved
On November 22, 2021, General Motors announced that it had acquired a 25 percent stake in Seattle-based Pure Watercraft as part of a collaboration to develop and commercialize battery-electric watercraft. GM’s announcement described the Pure Outboard and a broader electric-marine effort. Its separate reference to $35 billion in planned electric and autonomous vehicle investment through 2025 concerned GM’s wider technology plans, not the amount it invested in Pure Watercraft. The 2021 announcement documents the stake at that time; it does not establish GM’s ownership after the receivership began. The receiver later described GM as a major technical and financial supporter of the pontoon-boat product and West Virginia manufacturing facility, with discussions ongoing as of the receiver’s reporting period.

The October filing is a dated account of the receivership’s work, not proof of the final disposition of every asset. The receiver’s report through September 30, 2024 describes a company winding down, rather than an operating business continuing to sell boats or motors.

What the receiver reported selling or marketing
In September 2024, the receiver said nine prospective buyers were reviewing assets. It described negotiations for proprietary system components, subsystems and associated intellectual property, with firm offers still being negotiated at the reporting cutoff. A battery-cell transaction was agreed late in September after earlier offers had been withdrawn amid market and regulatory complications.
The report gave an approximate count of 750,000 lithium battery cells from an earlier battery design. It also said approximately 100 rigid inflatable boats and approximately 20 product test boats remained subject to different sale or auction considerations. Those are the receiver’s approximate counts at that time, not independently audited or current inventory figures. Two prospective buyers had included a fleet of approximately 10 service vehicles in their proposals.

The receiver’s cash summary listed $386,539.90 in asset-sale collections for July 19 through September 30, 2024. That is a report-period collection line, not a valuation of Pure Watercraft or the final value of all assets. The receiver also said revenue during the period was mainly monthly boat-club dues, with some immaterial spare-parts sales, and cautioned that ordinary income statements and balance sheets were not meaningful while the business was in liquidation.
What Raider Outboards said it acquired
Minutes from an April 11, 2025 North Brevard Economic Development Zone meeting recount remarks by Raider Outboards president George Woodruff. According to the minutes, Woodruff said Raider acquired Pure Watercraft assets. He described the assets as an opportunity to supply the military with electric outboard motors and estimated it would take about a year to turn around the product.

The minutes are a public record of those remarks, not a receiver filing, purchase agreement or court sale order. They do not list all assets transferred, establish that Raider acquired the whole company or its liabilities, or show that the projected military supply occurred. The available records do not establish that Pure Watercraft still sells new motors, that a specific model is currently available, or that it is listed by a retailer. The receiver’s account of liquidation and Raider’s reported asset acquisition are not evidence of current consumer inventory. A historic product name or a search result alone is not confirmation of availability; verify the seller, exact model, compatibility, warranty and service support before relying on a listing.

Likewise, the sources do not establish who currently owns every part of Pure Watercraft’s technology or the final outcome of all asset sales. The receiver’s report discusses ongoing buyer review and negotiations as of September 2024, while the later meeting minutes provide only Raider’s president’s account of an asset acquisition.
