If Facebook Marketplace is showing the wrong place, first check the location control used for browsing. If you are selling, check the location attached to the listing instead; these are separate settings. A location change does not establish that your account country or currency has changed, and Meta’s available guidance does not confirm a universal Marketplace currency setting.
Check whether the problem is browsing or a listing
Marketplace uses location in more than one context. The area you choose to browse affects the region or city for search results. A sale listing has its own location confirmation in the posting flow. Changing one should not be treated as changing the other.
- Wrong area in search results: check the location or distance control while browsing Marketplace.
- Wrong place shown on an item you are selling: review the location in that listing’s creation flow.
Change the location used to browse Marketplace
- Open Marketplace and find its location or distance control.
- Select the intended region or city if the control offers that option.
- Check the results again to see whether they reflect the selected area.
Meta’s 2016 Marketplace launch announcement described a built-in tool for adjusting the search region or switching to another city: Meta’s Marketplace announcement. The post dates from the product’s launch and does not establish the current app’s button names or layout, which may differ.
Check the location on an item you are selling
When creating a listing, review the location confirmation in the posting flow before publishing. Meta’s listing instructions treat this as part of creating the item for sale. The browsing area you selected is not proof that an existing listing’s location has changed. If the listing is already live, inspect its own details and available editing controls rather than assuming a search-location change updates it.

Why changing location may not change currency or country
A Marketplace search location is a way to choose the area you are browsing; the cited Meta guidance does not say that using it changes your account country or currency. The official information available here does not establish a universal Marketplace currency setting or a permanent account-country change procedure, so there is no verified menu path to provide for either issue.
If prices appear in an unexpected currency, note where the currency appears—for example, in a listing price or another part of the app—and identify the country and account region you are using. Those details matter when seeking account-specific help. Do not assume that changing the Marketplace search city will correct a currency display.

When location-specific features remain unavailable
Seeing results from another area does not guarantee access to every Marketplace feature there. Meta says cross-region messaging can be limited when countries have different Marketplace access or do not allow messaging between global regions. Delivery availability also depends on location. See Meta’s Marketplace messaging guidance and Meta’s information about Marketplace delivery availability.
If you can browse an area but cannot message a seller or use delivery, that difference may reflect regional feature availability rather than a location-picker problem. Changing the search area is not evidence that your account is eligible for every feature in that region.
