There is no single court-verified dollar figure established by the reporting reviewed here. Entertainment Tonight reported an estimated payment of about $20 million in 2018; Us Weekly later reported a roughly $25 million lump sum plus property, after an earlier Us Weekly account had described a possible package worth about $50 million. Those figures came from unnamed sources and should not be treated as confirmed terms of the divorce decree.

What the reports say about the settlement amount

The reported figures vary in both amount and what they describe. Entertainment Tonight’s August 2018 report said an unnamed source put the payment at about $20 million. Us Weekly reported in July 2019 that an unnamed source described a roughly $25 million lump sum alongside property allocations. An earlier Us Weekly report, published in July 2018, had estimated an overall package at about $50 million, including a stated $25 million one-time payment and property.

Report Reported amount and scope Attribution
Entertainment Tonight, August 15, 2018 About $20 million Unnamed source; report does not establish this as a disclosed court term
Us Weekly, July 18, 2018 About $50 million in overall package value, including a stated $25 million one-time payment and property Unnamed insider; estimate
Us Weekly, July 17, 2019 About $25 million as a lump sum, plus reported property allocations Unnamed source

These are not interchangeable figures or independent confirmation of one exact total. The articles do not provide the complete financial agreement or an authoritative accounting. Accordingly, the reporting does not establish how much Lauer paid in total, nor does it support a precise claim about how much he “lost.”

What property and other terms were reported

Us Weekly’s July 2019 account, citing an unnamed source, reported that Roque would keep the couple’s Hamptons horse farm and that Lauer would receive land in New Zealand. The same report described joint custody and equal contributions to the children’s expenses. These details, like the lump-sum figure, were reported terms attributed to an unnamed source—not figures or provisions verified in the published account of the decree.

When the divorce was finalized

Lauer and Roque married in October 1998 and separated in 2017, according to Entertainment Tonight’s 2019 report. The outlet reported that a Suffolk County Supreme Court judge signed their divorce decree on September 5, 2019, citing confirmation from court spokesman Lucian Chalfen. The decree’s signing date is distinct from the question of what the financial agreement contained: the report confirms finalization, but the reviewed coverage does not establish an exact settlement amount.
