Flipkart announced a US$3.6 billion fundraise on July 12, 2021, at a reported post-money valuation of US$37.6 billion. The valuation describes the company after that financing round; it is a historical figure, not an established current valuation.
How much did Flipkart raise, and what was its valuation?
Flipkart raised US$3.6 billion in the July 2021 round, and Walmart reported the group’s post-money valuation as US$37.6 billion. These figures measure different things: the first is the capital raised in the financing; the second is the reported value of the company after the round. They should not be used interchangeably.

Who participated in the funding round?
Flipkart said the round was led by GIC, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Walmart. The company also named the following participants:

Contemporary reporting by TechCrunch described SoftBank’s participation as a return after it exited during Walmart’s 2018 acquisition of Flipkart. That is background on SoftBank’s investment history, not a stated term of the 2021 financing.
What did Flipkart say it would do with the investment?
CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said Flipkart planned to focus on growth for small and medium Indian businesses, including kiranas; invest in new categories and made-in-India technology; improve consumer experiences; and build supply-chain capabilities. These were company-stated priorities at the time of the announcement, not evidence that the investment later produced any particular result.

No current valuation follows from the 2021 announcement. The US$37.6 billion figure is the post-money valuation reported for that specific round. The cited announcement and contemporaneous coverage do not establish Flipkart’s present valuation, ownership, or subsequent fundraising.
