As of Wheels Up’s second-quarter 2026 report, its active controlled jet fleet consisted entirely of Phenom and Challenger aircraft. The company’s April 29 announcement identifies those operations as Phenom 300 and Challenger 300 series. That is a two-series update—not support for a current list of eight aircraft types. Wheels Up separately offers access to a much larger charter network, whose aircraft are not all part of its controlled fleet.
Wheels Up’s current controlled fleet: Phenom and Challenger
Wheels Up said on April 29, 2026, that it had completed the transition of its legacy jet fleets out of revenue service and moved its on-fleet jet operations to Phenom 300 and Challenger 300 series aircraft. In results published August 4, 2026, for the quarter ended June 30, the company said those premium jets made up 100% of its active controlled jet fleet. Wheels Up’s fleet-modernization announcement and its second-quarter results establish the series-level status, not an eight-type roster.
The second-quarter report put the controlled Phenom and Challenger fleet at 40 aircraft, compared with 22 a year earlier. That is a company-reported figure for the reporting period, not a guaranteed live count after June 30, 2026. The sources establish the aircraft series and fleet status; they do not provide a like-for-like comparison of seating, range, performance, or pricing.
Why “8 aircraft” is not a supported current roster
The available company statements do not support presenting eight aircraft types as the current fleet Wheels Up itself operates. The precise scope behind an eight-aircraft count is not established: it could refer to another date or to aircraft accessible through a different channel, but neither explanation is confirmed. Wheels Up’s homepage describes a premium fleet using Phenom 300 series and Challenger 300/350 family wording; that phrasing is not an eight-type roster.

A separate 2025 transaction announcement said Wheels Up would continue to operate three Challenger 300s and seven Phenom 300s included in a sale-leaseback. Those 10 aircraft were part of that transaction, not a complete fleet roster. A transaction count should not be substituted for a current fleet count.
Retired aircraft and partner-network access
Citation X and Hawker 400XP
Wheels Up identified Citation X and Hawker 400XP as legacy types retired from its revenue service. The company said it would fulfill existing member commitments involving those aircraft through third-party partner operators. They therefore should not be counted as part of the active controlled jet fleet reported for the second quarter of 2026.

The broader charter network
Wheels Up describes access to more than 7,000 vetted private aircraft worldwide through its global charter network. That is a company website figure for network access, not a count of aircraft Wheels Up owns or operates in its controlled fleet. Aircraft availability through a partner network may differ from the company’s on-fleet operations; the two figures describe different scopes.

How to read a Wheels Up aircraft count
- Controlled fleet: aircraft in the company’s reported on-fleet operations. The latest cited status says Phenom and Challenger jets accounted for all of this active controlled jet fleet in the second quarter of 2026.
- Partner aircraft: aircraft available through the broader charter network, not automatically operated by Wheels Up.
- Legacy aircraft: Citation X and Hawker 400XP were retired from revenue service; Wheels Up said partner operators would handle existing commitments involving them.
- Date matters: fleet totals can change. The 40-aircraft figure is tied to the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and should not be treated as an undated current count.
