Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha’s wealth is tied primarily to King Power, the family’s duty-free and travel-retail business—not to Leicester City. His father, Vichai, co-founded the business with Aiyawatt’s mother, Aimon. Aiyawatt took on leadership roles over time and succeeded his father as CEO in 2018. Forbes reported in 2019 that he shared the family fortune with his mother and three siblings; that is not the same as a verified estimate of his personal net worth.
King Power is the documented source of the family fortune
Vichai and Aimon built King Power from a small luxury-goods importing business into a major retailer. Vichai opened a downtown Bangkok duty-free store in 1989. King Power later secured exclusive rights to duty-free stores at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport in 2006, a significant expansion milestone that gave the company a commercial advantage, according to The Guardian.
The timeline matters: the downtown shop was the starting point; the airport rights came later. The available accounts describe King Power’s growth, but do not show that one concession alone created the family fortune.
What King Power’s sales figures do—and do not—tell you
Forbes reported King Power sales of $2.4 billion in 2016 and $3.2 billion in 2017 in its 2019 article. Those are company sales for the stated years, not Aiyawatt’s personal income, the family’s net worth, or current revenue.

Aiyawatt’s role grew through succession
Aiyawatt did not start King Power himself. A 2016 Thai Securities and Exchange Commission tender-offer filing records him as King Power Group CEO and Leicester City vice-chairman, and lists his assistant-to-chairman role at King Power beginning in 2009 and Leicester vice-chairmanship beginning in 2011. Forbes reported that Aiyawatt took over as King Power CEO from Vichai in 2018. King Power’s current executive page identifies him as Executive Chairman. King Power’s official profile describes the company as a leader in duty-free retail; that characterization is the company’s own description.

Leicester City is part of the public story, not the documented origin of the money
The family bought Leicester City in 2010 for a reported £39 million, according to The Guardian. The club’s later success made the family more visible, but the sources trace the family’s wealth to King Power retail, not to football earnings.
After Vichai’s death in 2018, Aiyawatt became Leicester chairman as well as King Power CEO. BBC Sport’s 2024 account credits his chairmanship with the club’s first FA Cup win in 2020–21, European football, relegation in 2022–23 and an immediate return to the top flight. Is Aiyawatt’s current personal net worth known?
Not from these sources. Forbes’s 2019 article says Aiyawatt shared the family fortune with his mother and three siblings, but it is a dated rich-list report, not an audited personal balance sheet. The sources do not establish how family assets are divided among individual members or provide a current personal net-worth figure for Aiyawatt.
The clearest supported answer is that his wealth is associated with the family’s King Power business and his succession into its leadership. Treating the company’s sales, the family’s fortune and Aiyawatt’s individual net worth as interchangeable would overstate what the evidence shows.
