A complete season-specific ranking needs the same cutoff date and currency for all clubs, plus a confirmed cohort of the 20 clubs in that season. Mixing the page’s later current values into the 2025 column, or treating a club’s later league status as proof of its membership in the 2025 cohort, can produce a misleading list.

Transfermarkt shows squad-size counts alongside market values. Those counts should not be confused with the Premier League’s registration rules. The league says a registered squad list can contain up to 25 players, subject to home-grown-player rules, while eligible under-21 players may be included above that limit. For the 2025/26 campaign, the league defines under-21 players as those born on or after 1 January 2004.

The league’s registration framework and Transfermarkt’s displayed squad-size count therefore answer different questions: one concerns player registration eligibility, and the other is the count shown with a market-value estimate.
