City Football Group (CFG) currently lists 10 clubs under its total-or-partial-ownership heading and identifies two others—Club Bolívar and Yokohama F. Marinos—as partner clubs, not owned clubs. Mumbai City FC is a former CFG holding: the club announced on December 26, 2025 that CFG had divested its shareholding. The exact count therefore depends on whether you mean ownership or the wider club network, and on the date being counted.
Which clubs does City Football Group own or part-own?
CFG’s current Our Clubs Worldwide directory groups its clubs by region. It headlines 12 clubs under total or partial ownership, but its visible list labels two of those entries as partner clubs. The table below follows the directory’s individual labels rather than treating every club in the network as owned.

How to interpret CFG’s club counts
The current directory’s headline says 12 total-or-partial-ownership clubs, while its visible entries consist of 10 clubs not marked as partners and two explicitly marked partner clubs. In a September 2025 announcement, CFG described a 13-club family and included Mumbai City FC. Mumbai City FC later announced CFG’s divestment, with its founding owners assuming full control. These figures refer to different dates and definitions; the wider family count should not be presented as a current ownership count.
For a clear shorthand, use the current directory’s categories: 10 entries it does not label as partners, plus two partner clubs. CFG has not published a complete current ownership-percentage table for every club in the reviewed directory, so “owns” here does not mean that CFG holds 100% of every club.

Partner clubs are not the same as owned clubs
CFG’s directory explicitly calls Club Bolívar and Yokohama F. Marinos partner clubs. That establishes a partnership relationship in CFG’s own classification, not an ownership stake. The available information does not specify the full rights, governance arrangements, or operational responsibilities for each partnership.
Mumbai City FC is a former holding
CFG included Mumbai City FC in its 13-club family description in September 2025. On December 26, 2025, Mumbai City FC announced that CFG had divested its shareholding and that the founding owners had assumed full control. It belongs in the history of CFG’s network, not in its current club list.

How the City Football Group network works
CFG describes itself as a global football organization intended to combine local club identity with shared expertise. Its stated areas of support include talent development, fan experience, sports entertainment, commercial opportunities, and community impact. Those are group-level aims; they do not establish that every club follows identical practices or achieves the same sporting results.
Shared football and academy expertise
CFG says its academy approach can encompass player development and education, clinical care, age-specific physical preparation, recovery, facilities, and technology. The group describes these as capabilities and elements of its model, not as a guarantee that each club provides every element in the same way.

Business operations beyond the pitch
In its statement covering the financial year ended June 30, 2024, CFG described itself as a holding company overseeing linked clubs and other football operations. It also described supporting business operations in areas such as sponsorship and partnerships, merchandising, ticketing, hospitality, and marketing. In practice, these are examples of the commercial functions that can support clubs and engage their fans; the statement does not detail how each function is allocated at every club.
Local identity remains part of the stated model
CFG says its clubs should remain authentic to their fans and communities while benefiting from being part of a global organization. That is the group’s stated approach, not evidence that local decision-making or sporting influence is identical across the network.

What is known about ownership and special arrangements?
Exact stakes and legal-control details are not available for every club in CFG’s current directory. Where a specific dated fact is established, it should be kept within its limits.
- Bahia: The official Bahia profile states CFG holds a 90% stake. It separately says 99% of members voted in favour of the acquisition; that vote is not CFG’s ownership percentage. See CFG’s Bahia profile.
- Girona FC: CFG said its shareholding was held in an independent blind trust from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 to ensure compliance with UEFA regulations. The stated period ended on June 30, 2025; this does not establish the arrangement after that date.
- CFG investors: In its September 2025 announcement, CFG described Newton Investment and Development LLC, wholly owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, as its majority owner and said Silver Lake held nearly 17%. These are descriptions attributed to that dated CFG announcement, not a complete independently audited account of current ownership percentages.
What the club network does—and does not—tell you
The CFG directory is useful for identifying the clubs the group associates with and for distinguishing its ownership list from named partnerships. It is not a full legal or sporting-control register. Do not infer exact stakes, transfer rules, shared decision-making powers, or the extent of influence over individual clubs where CFG’s published information does not specify them.
