13 Best Free Twitter/X Analytics Tools in 2026

The best free Twitter/X analytics setup in 2026 is a combination of native post views, SocialDog, Tweet Binder, the X data archive, and Media Studio when available. Here is what each tool really includes—and which popular recommendations are outdated.

Short answer: the best genuinely free Twitter/X analytics options in 2026 are X’s public post view counts, the X data archive, SocialDog’s limited free plan, Tweet Binder’s 7-day reports, and X Media Studio if your account has access. X’s full account-level Analytics dashboard is no longer generally free: current access requires X Premium.

Several popular recommendations are also outdated. Metricool’s Free plan does not connect to X, Buffer Analyze is paid apart from a 14-day trial, Hootsuite offers a 30-day trial rather than a permanent free analytics plan, and Followerwonk’s tools now sit inside Fedica. This guide uses Twitter/X because Twitter is now called X and older product pages still use the Twitter name.

The comparisons below reflect the product documentation and access conditions available on August 9, 2026. Treat free-plan limits as changeable, especially when a product describes a feature as freemium, preview, trial, or available only on selected accounts.

Free Twitter/X analytics tools at a glance

There is no longer one complete, permanent, free Twitter analytics dashboard. Instead, the most useful no-cost choice depends on what you want to measure: individual post exposure, follower growth, a hashtag, your own archived data, or video performance.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Tool What is free Best for Main limitation
X Analytics No; the basic account dashboard requires X Premium Native account and post reporting Not a generally free feature under current access
X post view counts Yes, for public posts Checking exposure on individual posts No account history, demographics, exports, or unique reach
X data archive Yes, for your own account Downloading and preserving account data Not a ready-made analytics report
X Media Studio Analytics Conditional; requires Media Studio access Video performance Specialized video reporting, not general account analytics
X Ads Manager Access may be free, but useful data requires campaigns Paid campaign measurement Not an organic-account analytics replacement
Tweet Binder Yes; up to 200 posts from the previous 7 days One-off hashtag, keyword, cashtag, or event checks Larger, historical, and ongoing reports are paid
SocialDog Yes; permanent Free plan Basic follower trends and light scheduling Only the most recent two weeks of free X analytics
Fedica Yes; permanent $0 plan, but not full analytics Scheduling and drafts Comprehensive analytics and audience research are paid
Followerwonk Not established as a fully free standalone service Follower and audience analysis through Fedica The product has moved into Fedica
Circleboom Twitter Freemium preview for one profile Exploring follower and engagement features Do not assume all listed analytics are free
Metricool No X connection on the Free plan Analytics for other connected networks Its free 30-day history does not apply to an unavailable X connection
Buffer Analyze No permanent free analytics plan; 14-day trial Multi-network reporting on a paid plan Buffer’s free publishing plan is not full X analytics
Hootsuite Analytics No permanent free plan; 30-day trial Multi-network analytics during a trial or subscription Continued use requires a paid plan

Best overall zero-cost combination: use X’s post counts for individual posts, SocialDog for a short follower trend, Tweet Binder for a recent hashtag or keyword, and the X archive to retain your own account data. Add Media Studio if video is your main format and you have access.

What counts as free?

These products fall into four different categories that older “free Twitter analytics” lists often mix together:

  • Permanent free access: a feature or plan remains available without a subscription, although it may be limited. X post view counts, the X archive, Tweet Binder’s free report, and SocialDog’s Free plan fit here.
  • Free but incomplete: you can use the product without paying, but the free feature is not the analytics function you may be looking for. Fedica’s free plan is primarily useful for scheduling, for example.
  • Conditional access: the feature may be available at no additional cost only if your account has the right product access, such as Media Studio.
  • Trial-only access: the product works free for a defined period, then requires payment. Buffer Analyze and Hootsuite Analytics belong here.

That distinction matters if you are trying to control business or creator expenses. A trial can be useful for a one-time reporting project, but it is not a permanent free tool. Set a cancellation reminder before entering payment details.

The 13 tools, evaluated

1. X Analytics: best native dashboard, but not generally free

X Analytics is the closest thing to a complete first-party account dashboard, but it should not be labeled a free Twitter analytics tool in 2026. Current web access is:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

X Premium → Analytics → Quick Access → Analytics

Current X terminology still includes Account home, the Post Activity Dashboard (PAD), and the Video Activity Dashboard (VAD). The official X Analytics overview says that the Post Activity Dashboard can show views, reposts, likes, and replies, with date filtering and CSV export.

There is an important qualification: that documentation is primarily aimed at X business and advertising users. It does not prove that every free personal account has access to the same dashboard. Current 2026 access guidance indicates that X Premium is required for the basic account analytics dashboard.

Verdict: use X Analytics if you already pay for X Premium or need native account reporting. Do not budget it as a $0 tool, and do not tell readers that the old analytics.twitter.com dashboard remains universally free and fully available.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. X post view counts: best truly free native metric

Every user can see public post view counts, whether they authored the post or are looking at someone else’s post. On a post, the count appears beside the analytics icon; when the post is opened, it appears beside the date and time. X documents this feature in its View counts help page.

This is useful for a quick post-by-post comparison. You can record the post URL, publication date, view count, likes, reposts, replies, and link clicks if you track those separately. Compare posts at the same age—such as 24 hours or seven days after publication—rather than comparing a new post with one that has been live for months.

However, a view count is not a complete analytics system:

  • It does not provide historical account-level trends.
  • It does not provide audience demographics or competitor reporting.
  • It does not provide an account-wide export.
  • Views are not unique-account reach. A view or impression-like exposure count should not be reported as the number of distinct people who saw the post.

Verdict: this is the best option when you need a free, immediate signal for individual public posts. It is not a replacement for an account dashboard.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. X data archive: best free way to retain your own data

Your X data archive is free and useful for account preservation, research, and custom analysis. On the web, go to:

More → Settings and privacy → Your account → Download an archive of your data → Request archive

According to X’s data-access instructions, the archive can contain posts, media, followers, following, Lists, Direct Messages, inferred interests and demographics, and advertising-related data.

Its major limitation is easy to miss: this is a downloadable account archive, not a ready-made analytics report. Do not promise that it contains the same impressions, engagement totals, or historical post-performance data that users may remember from the former X Analytics dashboard. The exact contents can also depend on the account and data X makes available in the archive.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Good use: request the archive periodically, keep a secure copy, and use it as a source for your own records. Restrict access because it may contain private messages and other sensitive account information.

Verdict: the best free tool for owning a copy of your account data, but not the easiest tool for answering questions such as “Which month had my highest engagement?”

4. X Media Studio Analytics: best specialized free video option when available

Media Studio Analytics is designed for video rather than general X account reporting, and it requires an account with Media Studio access. For an eligible video, the current path is:

Media Studio library → select a video → More Analytics

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The date-range control is in the upper-right corner and defaults to a 7-day view. Available metrics include:

  • Total Views
  • Organic Views
  • Promoted Views
  • Video Completion Rate
  • Average Watch Time
  • Country of viewership
  • Platform of viewership

Media Studio analytics can be exported, including from the Video Analytics Dashboard. X says its Media Studio data goes back to 2017.

One reporting detail is especially important: metrics are aggregated by video rather than by post. If you publish the same video multiple times, the views are aggregated across those posts. That makes Media Studio useful for understanding the asset’s overall video performance, but less useful if you need to compare every individual posting separately.

Verdict: a strong option for video creators who already have Media Studio access. It is not a generally available, full free Twitter analytics dashboard.

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

5. X Ads Manager: best for paid campaign data, not organic analytics

X Ads Manager is available at ads.x.com. It is built for measuring paid advertising campaigns, not ordinary organic-account performance.

The interface includes Customize metrics, custom filters, chart customization, a history log, and Export → Create new export. Default campaign columns include Delivery Status, Objective, Start, End, Spend, Impressions, CPM, Clicks, CTR, and CPC. Campaign reporting can also include results, engagement rate, and cost per result. X describes the campaign dashboard in its Ads Manager documentation and campaign dashboard guide.

Access to the interface may not require a separate analytics subscription, but meaningful data requires advertising activity. If you have not run campaigns, Ads Manager will not give you a useful history of your organic posts. It therefore belongs on a list of free-access X measurement tools, not a list of free organic analytics replacements.

Verdict: use it to measure money spent on X advertising. Do not use it to answer questions about unpaid follower growth or ordinary post performance.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Tweet Binder: best free one-off hashtag or keyword report

Tweet Binder currently offers a free report for a hashtag, cashtag, user, or keyword. Its current interface uses the label Create free Twitter report! The free-report limit is up to 200 posts from the last seven days. See the current Tweet Binder pricing and free-report page.

This makes it a practical choice for a small, recent event or campaign check. For example, you could examine a conference hashtag, a product launch keyword, or a stock-related cashtag during the previous week.

The free report is not full historical campaign analytics. Larger datasets, older history, real-time monitoring, and ongoing reports require paid plans. Although the pricing page advertises historical and real-time reporting, those capabilities should not be attributed to the free report.

Verdict: the best no-cost option in this list for a quick, narrow hashtag or keyword snapshot. It is not suitable for a large campaign archive or continuous monitoring without upgrading.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

7. SocialDog: best free follower-trend tool

SocialDog has a permanent Free plan rather than only a time-limited trial. Its current free limits are:

  • Up to 2 social profiles in total
  • Up to 1 X account
  • 1 team member
  • Up to 10 scheduled posts per social profile at one time

Free X analytics cover basic follower-number trends and the most recent two weeks. The free plan does not provide the deeper post analytics, longer historical periods, CSV downloads, competitor analysis, or detailed follower-acquisition analytics listed for paid plans. The limits are described in SocialDog’s Free Plan overview and pricing page.

SocialDog also warns that X restrictions and its own anti-suspension limits can prevent users from reaching stated follow or unfollow limits. That is relevant if you are evaluating SocialDog for account-management features rather than analytics alone.

Verdict: one of the most useful permanent free choices for a small account that wants a basic follower trend and light scheduling. It is not a long-term historical reporting system.

8. Fedica: best free scheduler with paid analytics upgrades

Fedica has a permanent Free Plan priced at $0 per month. Its documented free features include:

  • Up to 10 accounts, generally one account per platform
  • Unlimited posting
  • Up to 10 scheduled posts at one time
  • Unlimited drafts

Those features make Fedica useful for planning X content without paying for a scheduler. They do not make it a full free X analytics platform. Fedica’s current plan information places comprehensive analytics, listening, external-account analysis, campaign analysis, and audience research in paid plans. Its 2026 X Analytics guide also indicates that detailed exportable analytics, engagement identities, other-account analysis, keyword filtering, and longer historical data require more than the basic dashboard.

Verdict: choose Fedica’s free plan if your priority is scheduling, drafts, or testing a social workflow. Choose a different tool—or a paid Fedica plan—if your priority is comprehensive X analytics.

9. Followerwonk: useful audience-analysis brand now inside Fedica

Followerwonk should not be described as the standalone free Twitter analytics service found in older articles. Its current site says that the Followerwonk tools are now available through the Fedica platform.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The currently advertised capabilities include:

  • Follower analysis
  • Demographics
  • Geographic distribution
  • Engagement metrics
  • Bot detection
  • Audience overlap
  • Follower tracking
  • Exports

The active site does not establish that the full feature set is free. Availability and limits should therefore be checked against the current Fedica plan before you recommend it as a no-cost tool. In particular, do not repeat the older claim that Followerwonk is a free standalone Twitter analytics dashboard.

Verdict: a potentially useful Fedica-based audience-analysis option, but not a confirmed fully free standalone product.

10. Circleboom Twitter: freemium option for exploring features

Circleboom Twitter offers a Free Tier/Freemium option for one profile that lets users preview features. The product advertises capabilities including follower analytics, advanced search, peak activity hours, and post and video engagement analytics. The free tier should not be interpreted as including every feature listed on the product site.

Circleboom also advertises an annual-plan promotion described as allowing users to use Circleboom Twitter for up to six months free. That is a promotion, not a permanent free analytics plan. Review the offer’s eligibility, billing terms, and renewal conditions before relying on it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

See Circleboom’s plan documentation and pricing page for current terms.

Verdict: worth considering if a free preview answers your question, but classify Circleboom as freemium rather than fully free.

11. Metricool: not a free X analytics tool under its current plan

Metricool is a common recommendation in older lists, but its current Free-plan documentation explicitly says that an X/Twitter connection is not available on the Free plan. The Free plan can provide up to 30 days of analytics history for connected networks, but that does not make X analytics free when X cannot be connected on that plan.

Metricool may still be useful if you are measuring other supported networks or are willing to use a paid plan. It should not be presented as a free Twitter/X analytics solution. Check the Free versus Premium comparison and current pricing before subscribing.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Verdict: exclude Metricool from a list of permanent free X analytics tools. Its free-plan history limit is irrelevant if the X connection itself is unavailable.

12. Buffer Analyze: paid X reporting with a 14-day trial

Buffer Analyze supports X, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, but Analyze is available on paid plans. Buffer currently offers a 14-day free trial. The permanent free Buffer publishing plan should not be described as including full X analytics.

This distinction is important because Buffer’s publishing and analytics products are often conflated. Someone can schedule content on a free publishing plan and still lack the Analyze reporting features. See the current Buffer Analyze page for the product and trial terms.

Verdict: useful for testing paid multi-network reporting for two weeks, but not a permanent free analytics tool. If you start the trial, set a reminder to cancel or review the plan before it converts to paid access.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

13. Hootsuite Analytics: broad reporting, but trial-only free access

Hootsuite supports X analytics alongside other social networks, but its current free access is a 30-day free trial, not a permanent free analytics plan. Continued use requires a paid plan. Older recommendations for “Hootsuite Free” providing ongoing Twitter analytics are outdated.

Hootsuite may make sense for a business that needs a wider social-media reporting workflow and can justify the subscription. It is a poor fit for a reader specifically looking for an ongoing $0 X analytics dashboard. Review the Hootsuite Analytics page and current plans before starting a trial.

Verdict: a trial-based paid option, not one of the best permanently free Twitter/X analytics tools.

A practical $0 Twitter/X measurement workflow

  1. Define the decision first. Decide whether you need post exposure, follower growth, video retention, hashtag activity, or paid-campaign efficiency. A tool that answers one question may be free even when a complete dashboard is not.
  2. Use X post counts for a consistent post sample. Record the post date, format, topic, views, likes, reposts, and replies at a fixed interval. Comparing every post at the same age is more meaningful than comparing counts collected at random times.
  3. Use SocialDog for the short follower trend. The free plan is suitable for a recent two-week view, not for a full-year growth chart. If you need a longer history, preserve your own periodic records rather than assuming the free plan will retain them.
  4. Run Tweet Binder reports while the topic is still recent. The free limit is 200 posts from the last seven days, so it is best for a focused question rather than a large campaign archive. Narrow the query when necessary.
  5. Use Media Studio for videos only when your account has access. Check both the date range and the fact that repeated posts of the same video are aggregated by video.
  6. Request the X archive for account preservation. Store the download securely, particularly because it may include Direct Messages and other private information. Treat it as raw account data, not a finished performance report.
  7. Use trials only for a defined reporting project. Buffer’s 14-day trial and Hootsuite’s 30-day trial can help with a temporary audit, but add a calendar reminder before starting either one.

Why numbers may not match between X and third-party tools

Do not expect a third-party report to reproduce X’s numbers exactly. X’s own campaign-analytics documentation notes that discrepancies can result from attribution windows, filtering, loading failures, and differences in how platforms measure and report activity. See X’s campaign analytics discrepancy guidance.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Other practical reasons include different time zones, different refresh schedules, different definitions of engagement, and whether a tool is counting posts, videos, campaigns, or accounts. When comparing reports:

  • Use the same date range and time zone.
  • Compare the same object—post with post, video with video, or campaign with campaign.
  • Write down the metric definition and denominator before calculating an engagement rate.
  • Do not rename views as reach.
  • Keep the source and date of every exported number.

For financial or business decisions, a directionally consistent series is usually more useful than combining incompatible totals from several dashboards.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Calling X Analytics universally free. Current basic account-dashboard access requires X Premium according to current 2026 guidance.
  • Calling X post views reach. Views are not a count of unique accounts.
  • Assuming the X archive contains the old analytics history. It is an account archive, not a guaranteed replacement for historical impressions and engagement reports.
  • Listing Metricool as free X analytics. The current Free plan does not allow an X/Twitter connection.
  • Confusing Buffer’s free publishing plan with Buffer Analyze. Analyze is paid apart from its 14-day trial.
  • Calling Hootsuite Free an ongoing plan. Current free access is a 30-day trial.
  • Describing Followerwonk as independent. Its tools are now available through Fedica.
  • Calling Tweet Binder’s free report historical. The current free report is limited to 200 posts from the previous seven days.
  • Assuming every freemium feature is included. Circleboom’s free tier is a preview, and Fedica’s free plan is primarily a scheduler rather than a full analytics plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is X Analytics free?

Not generally under current 2026 access. The basic account analytics dashboard requires X Premium. Free alternatives include public X post view counts, the X data archive, SocialDog’s limited follower trends, and Tweet Binder’s limited recent report.

What is the best completely free Twitter/X analytics tool?

There is no single complete free dashboard. Use X post view counts for individual posts, SocialDog Free for a basic two-week follower trend, Tweet Binder for up to 200 recent posts matching a hashtag or keyword, and Media Studio Analytics for video if your account has access.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do X post views equal reach?

No. X post views are exposure-like counts and are not the number of unique accounts reached. Report them as views or impressions-like exposure, not as unique reach.

Are Buffer and Hootsuite free Twitter/X analytics tools?

Neither currently offers a permanent free X analytics plan. Buffer Analyze can be tried for 14 days and Hootsuite offers a 30-day free trial; continued use requires a paid plan.

Does the X data archive include my historical post analytics?

The archive can include posts, media, followers, following, messages, inferred interests and demographics, and advertising-related data. It is not a ready-made analytics report, and you should not promise that it contains the same historical impressions or engagement data formerly shown in X Analytics.

The Bottom Line

For an ongoing $0 workflow, start with X post view counts, add SocialDog Free for the most recent two weeks of follower trends, use Tweet Binder for a small recent hashtag or keyword report, and request the X data archive to preserve your account records. Use Media Studio only if you have access and mainly publish video.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

X Analytics itself currently requires X Premium, while Metricool, Buffer Analyze, and Hootsuite should not be advertised as permanent free X analytics tools. The cheapest choice is therefore not necessarily one app—it is a small, clearly defined stack that answers your specific measurement question without turning a trial into an unwanted subscription.
