What “live” meant during Cyber Monday 2024
The 2024 promotions were not one synchronized sale. Retailers released offers on different schedules, and some products had their own end times or sold out before the advertised event ended.

The Surface Laptop example is especially important: the model name alone does not identify the deal. Screen size, Snapdragon processor, memory, storage, and retailer can produce materially different prices.
Which deals appeared strongest on paper?
Using the reported comparison prices—not a claim about current availability—the largest apparent percentage reductions included the Echo Pop, Echo Show 5, Beats Solo 4, and AirPods Pro 2. A lower percentage discount does not necessarily make a product worse value, however. A current-generation device, longer warranty, better return policy, or lower ownership cost may matter more than the displayed percentage.

How to evaluate an expired deal before buying now
- Open the retailer’s current product page. Do not assume an archived article link still points to the same listing.
- Match the exact specification. Compare model number, generation, processor, RAM, storage, screen size, and included accessories.
- Check who is selling and fulfilling the item. On marketplaces, a different seller can mean a different warranty, return policy, or condition.
- Compare the total cost. Include shipping, taxes, membership requirements, accessories, and any subscription needed for full functionality.
- Review the return deadline and warranty. A discount is less valuable if returning a defective product is difficult or expensive.
- Check a price-history tool or several retailers. A “was” price may be a manufacturer’s suggested price rather than the product’s normal recent selling price.
- Buy only if the purchase fits the budget. A 50% discount still costs 50% of the original comparison price. Avoid carrying a balance or paying interest to capture a sale.
Why the advertised discount could be misleading
Retailers commonly use “up to” language. Target’s statement of up to 50% off selected tech and video games did not mean every technology product was half price. The discount also might have applied only to a particular size, color, bundle, or model.
Inventory was another limitation. Amazon released deals daily, some offers used countdown timers, and popular products could sell out. Best Buy warned that quantities were limited and did not promise rain checks. An item’s advertised price could therefore be accurate at publication and unavailable hours later.

“Lowest price” also needs a defined comparison period. A deal described as one of the lowest prices of the year is not automatically an all-time low. Price-history evidence is needed for that stronger claim.
Money-saving rules for future Cyber Monday purchases
- Make a list before sale week. Decide what you need and set a maximum price before discounts create urgency.
- Use a cooling-off rule. For nonessential purchases, wait at least a few hours rather than reacting to a countdown timer.
- Do not chase the percentage. Compare the final price with the item’s recent price, not just the crossed-out figure.
- Use credit-card protections carefully. Pay the statement balance in full if you use a card; rewards are not a saving if interest exceeds them.
- Track returns. Holiday purchases can have altered return windows, and a missed deadline can turn a poor deal into a permanent expense.
- Be cautious with buy now, pay later. Splitting a payment does not reduce the price and can complicate refunds or encourage multiple simultaneous purchases.

What was the best Cyber Monday 2024 deal?
There was no single best deal for every shopper. Reported standouts included the $199.99 9th-generation iPad, $149 AirPods Pro 2, $99.99 Beats Solo 4, and $299.99 Dell Inspiron 15, but value depended on the exact configuration, need, warranty, and current alternative prices.
Did Target discount all technology products by 50%?
No. Target advertised up to 50% off selected tech and video games. “Up to” described the maximum discount on qualifying items, not a uniform discount across the category.

How can I tell whether an old Cyber Monday price is still available?
Open the retailer’s current listing and compare the exact model, seller, condition, shipping cost, return policy, and warranty. Treat any price from a 2024 roundup as historical until the retailer confirms it.

Cyber Monday 2024 was a completed shopping event, not a sale that is still live. Its reported deals included meaningful discounts on selected headphones, tablets, smart-home devices, laptops, and cleaning equipment, but those prices should not be presented as available today.
