What does the agreement make exclusive?
EA says Madden NFL will continue as “the exclusive action simulation game for NFL football.” That is a specific claim about NFL action-simulation games, not a declaration that EA owns exclusive rights to every NFL-related game, genre, or fan experience.
The announcement also refers to future EA SPORTS College Football content and new large-scale interactive experiences. The NFL’s account of the prior 2020 renewal likewise described opportunities for other game genres and experiences alongside Madden’s simulation position. How long does the new deal last?
The October 2025 announcement calls the agreement “multi-year” but does not state a number of years or an end date. It also does not disclose financial terms such as the value of the deal or royalties. An exact expiration year cannot be established from the announcement.
The earlier agreement was reported differently: NFL.com said in March 2020 that the NFL, NFL Players Association, and Electronic Arts had signed a six-year renewal. That historical term describes the 2020 agreement, not the length of the 2025 deal.

EA SPORTS President Cam Weber and NFL executive Renie Anderson framed the renewed partnership around NFL simulation and fan experiences. EA’s announcement includes two scale figures: Weber said more than 2 billion Madden NFL games are played each year, and EA said the daily play volume is equivalent to 23,000 NFL seasons.
