EgyptAir launched nonstop flights from Cairo to Los Angeles in May 2026 and to Chicago in June 2026. Both routes were reported as operating three times a week on Airbus A350-900 aircraft; Los Angeles flights use Terminal B, the Tom Bradley International Terminal, at LAX. These additions expand EgyptAir’s U.S. network, though the available sources do not establish that they are the airline’s largest-ever expansion.
What are EgyptAir’s two new U.S. routes?
The routes connect Cairo with Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). Los Angeles is described in launch coverage as EgyptAir’s new direct West Coast connection. The airline’s May 25, 2026 notice identifies Terminal B at LAX, also known as the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
When did the flights begin?
The Egyptian State Information Service reported the inaugural Cairo–Los Angeles flight on May 23, 2026. Ahram Online reported the first direct Cairo–Chicago flight on June 22, 2026. Chicago’s Department of Aviation announcement, as indexed by Publicnow, specified a June 21 start date; Ahram’s launch report confirms the June launch but does not give a precise date in its text.
Earlier announcements described plans rather than completed launches: a February government report anticipated Los Angeles service followed by Chicago, and April coverage projected the launches for May and June. The later reports confirm that both routes launched.

How often do the routes operate, and what aircraft serve them?
Ahram Online reported both routes as three-times-weekly services operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Its Chicago launch report listed Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday as operating days. Those are reported launch-era details, not a guarantee of today’s timetable or aircraft assignment.

What should travelers check before booking?
Schedules and aircraft assignments can change, and launch reports do not establish current fares, baggage rules, seat configuration, or availability. Before making plans, use EgyptAir’s official website to check its current timetable and booking options. Compare the exact travel dates, airport details, arrival and departure times, fare conditions, baggage allowance, and onward connections shown for your itinerary.

Why the expansion matters—and what is not established
The routes add two nonstop U.S. destinations to EgyptAir’s network, including its new direct connection to the U.S. West Coast. EgyptAir Holding Company chairman and CEO Ahmed Adel called the Chicago route “an important step in the airline’s growth and development plan for 2026,” according to Ahram Online. That is the airline’s stated rationale, not independent evidence of passenger demand or financial results.
The available reports do not provide a measure showing that this is EgyptAir’s “biggest-ever” expansion, nor do they establish passenger demand, revenue, or commercial performance. Calling the routes historic is therefore headline framing rather than a documented comparison.
