Fabcot Pty Ltd, Woolworths Group’s in-house property division, agreed to buy two hectares at Eglinton Village in Western Australia from developer Cedar Woods. The planned neighbourhood centre has since received planning approval, but the sources available do not confirm that it opened after its forecast mid-2026 target.
What Fabcot bought
On 5 June 2024, Cedar Woods announced it had accepted an unconditional contract from Fabcot to sell two hectares of shopping-centre land at Eglinton Village. Cedar Woods described the proposed neighbourhood-scale centre as likely to be anchored by a Woolworths supermarket with specialty stores. Cedar Woods’ announcement said Fabcot would obtain development approval and undertake the centre’s development and construction.

Where the site is
The land is at the corner of Marmion Avenue and Imperial Entrance in Eglinton, Western Australia. Cedar Woods said it would sit beside a proposed feature park and within walking distance of Eglinton train station and a future primary school. In its 2024 announcement, Cedar Woods forecast that Eglinton would have more than 24,000 residents by 2046; that is the developer’s projection, not a current population count.
What is planned for the site
The Metro Outer Development Assessment Panel later approved the Eglinton Neighbourhood Centre proposal. The Urban Developer reported on 17 February 2025 that the approved plans included a 3,250-square-metre supermarket, 250 car parking spaces, a cafe and a liquor store. It reported a total gross floor area of 5,055 square metres, net lettable area of 3,242 square metres and expected project cost of $22 million. These are details reported from the proposal and approved plans, not confirmation that the features have been built.

The planning record also includes objections to the proposed increase in permitted floorspace. A submission argued that a larger neighbourhood centre could affect the planned hierarchy of activity centres and investment in the nearby district centre and transport infrastructure. Those were submitters’ concerns; the proposal was subsequently reported approved.

Cedar Woods later reported that construction had commenced and forecast an opening in mid-2026. That date was a forecast, not confirmation of completion or trading. As of 8 October 2026, the sources cited here do not establish whether the centre has opened, so its current operating status remains unconfirmed.
