Edelweiss Air’s first Airbus A350-900 was planned to join the fleet in early April 2025, and it made the airline’s first A350 long-haul flight to Las Vegas on 15 May 2025. The arrival and Las Vegas debut are past milestones, not upcoming events.
When did Edelweiss receive its first A350, and when did it fly to Las Vegas?
On 22 March 2024, Edelweiss announced that its first of six Airbus A350s was expected to join the fleet at the beginning of April 2025. The airline planned to use the aircraft on short- and medium-haul routes during its first weeks, before introducing it to long-haul service. It named Las Vegas and Vancouver as the first A350 long-haul destinations, with Las Vegas set to come first. Edelweiss’s announcement described three weekly Zurich–Las Vegas flights from mid-May 2025.
The first long-haul departure took place on 15 May 2025, when the A350 flew from Zurich to Las Vegas with 200 passengers, according to Edelweiss’s report of the flight. The airline said it was then operating the route three times a week. That frequency describes the schedule at launch; it does not establish the current timetable.
What did the first A350 accomplish in its first year?
In its first-year report dated 1 April 2026, Edelweiss said its first A350, registration HB-IHF, had completed 845 flights and travelled about 3.98 million kilometres. The airline reported that the aircraft carried 211,745 guests, including 14,001 children and 2,307 babies. These are figures reported by Edelweiss, not independently audited performance measures.

The same report said four A350s were in service as of 1 April 2026, with the fleet ultimately planned to grow to six. Edelweiss’s first-year report provides the airline’s account of the fleet’s progress.
What performance improvements did Edelweiss claim?
At the May 2025 Las Vegas launch, Edelweiss said the A350 consumed about 25% less fuel and was up to 50% quieter than the A340 it was replacing. Those are the airline’s comparisons; its release did not provide an independent measurement method or operating conditions for them. They should therefore be read as Edelweiss’s stated advantages, not as independently verified results for every flight.

Was the new cabin installed for the Las Vegas debut?
No. The 2025 Las Vegas milestone was the A350’s first long-haul deployment; the new cabin is a separate retrofit programme announced later. In an article dated 9 February 2026, Lufthansa Group said the first aircraft with the revised cabin was due to enter service in December 2026, with further aircraft converted through July 2027 and the A350 fleet programme expected to be complete by summer 2027.
The planned cabin includes a new Premium Economy product, Business Suites with doors, 4K screens, Bluetooth audio, power at every seat, Starlink high-speed internet, and Human Centric Lighting. These are announced features and rollout plans, not confirmation that they were present on the aircraft’s 2025 Las Vegas flight. Lufthansa Group’s cabin announcement outlines the programme.

As of 16 September 2026, Edelweiss’s newsroom index said first flights with the new cabin to Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Windhoek, and Halifax were bookable. That indicates announced bookings, but does not confirm that a particular aircraft or cabin will operate a specific future flight. Edelweiss’s newsroom index is the source for that update.
