Dunkin’ really did announce one million free coffees for April Fools’ Day—but the offer was for April 1, 2025, and has expired. Dunkin’ Rewards members could enter a code in the app to claim a single-use reward, subject to a limited supply and specific drink restrictions.
How the 2025 free-coffee offer worked
Dunkin’ announced the promotion for Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Rewards members had to enter ThisIsNotAJoke in the Dunkin’ app. The offer covered one free hot or iced coffee or cold brew, any size, while supplies lasted. Dunkin’ described it as a real offer in its official announcement.
The code could be used on April 1 only, or until the code limit was reached. Entering it produced a single-use Free Coffee and Cold Brew Reward, which had to be redeemed for an eligible coffee or cold brew beverage by April 8, 2025. Espresso was excluded.
Did Dunkin’ give away all one million coffees?
One million was the announced giveaway quantity, not a published count of completed redemptions. Dunkin’s announcement does not establish how many customers claimed or used the reward, so it is not accurate to say that all one million coffees were served.

How the 2026 promotion differed
Dunkin’ brought back the idea on April 1, 2026, but that was a separate promotion with different terms. It also has expired. The comparison below reflects the terms Dunkin’ listed in its 2026 announcement.
