What a New Mexico virtual mailbox or private mailbox offers
A CMRA is a private business that rents private mailboxes and accepts mail for customer distribution or remailing with new postage. Services vary: one provider may offer in-person pickup, another may remail items, and digital scans may or may not be available. Confirm the specific location and service terms rather than assuming a virtual mailbox includes every kind of handling.
Form 1583 and identity checks
USPS requires a customer applying for a private mailbox through a CMRA to complete PS Form 1583 and provide two forms of identification, one of which must include a photo. AccessPoint Virtual Mail
AccessPoint Virtual Mail advertises a virtual mailbox in Albuquerque and says customers can complete Form 1583 online. USPS and private mailbox services have different fees and handling, so compare more than a headline monthly price. For a CMRA, include recurring mailbox charges and postage for each remailing. For USPS services, verify current service fees and any applicable postage due. Also compare:

- mail and package eligibility;
- weekly shipment versus local pickup, individual forwarding, or digital processing;
- the location of the mailbox and any pickup constraints; and
