DigiSkills 3.0 relaunched in May 2025 with a goal of offering 3 million free training opportunities to Pakistani youth over three and a half years. That figure is a target—not evidence that 3 million people have already been trained. The first 3.0 batch filled its 300,000 seats in 2025; a later Batch 2 enrollment notice was published in November 2025, but that notice does not establish whether enrollment is open now.
What is DigiSkills 3.0?
DigiSkills is a Pakistani online training program focused on digital and freelance-oriented skills. Ignite National Technology Fund leads the flagship project, while Virtual University of Pakistan executes it nationwide. The university described the 3.0 relaunch as an expansion and update to the course catalog. Rector Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said, “DigiSkills.pk is expanding and updating its course catalog to keep pace with the ever-evolving digital landscape.” (Virtual University launch announcement, May 15, 2025; National Assembly response, 2024)
The relaunch followed DigiSkills 2.0, which the National Assembly response says began in January 2022 and ended in October 2024. Ignite’s 2024 business plan says the broader program began in 2018. These milestones describe earlier phases; they should not be confused with 3.0’s results.
What does the 3 million target mean?
Virtual University announced that DigiSkills 3.0 aimed to provide 3 million training opportunities over three and a half years. The wording matters: it is a planned number of trainings, not a confirmed count of unique people trained, completed courses, new jobs, or earnings. One person may take more than one course, and the announcement does not define the target as a count of distinct individuals. (Virtual University, May 15, 2025)

Earlier figures refer to different periods and measures. The National Assembly response reported more than 4.5 million enrollments in 19 previous batches. It also said around 28% of DigiSkills-trained freelancers reported earnings above USD 827 million; the cited passage does not establish that DigiSkills alone caused those earnings. Ignite’s 2024 business plan reported more than 3 million trainings delivered to over 850,000 individuals since 2018, and cited a 2022 third-party study for USD 290 million earned by DigiSkills-trained freelancers through June 2022. The official sources cited here do not establish a directly comparable independent evaluation of DigiSkills 3.0 outcomes. Enrollment, course completion, reported earnings, and employment are different measures; none should be substituted for another.

Are DigiSkills 3.0 registrations open now?
Current enrollment status cannot be confirmed from the available dated notices. The latest enrollment notice cited here is Virtual University’s November 20, 2025 announcement for Batch 2. It does not prove that registration remains open on October 8, 2026, or that a later batch has opened. Before applying, check the latest announcement on the official DigiSkills website or Virtual University’s official website.
When a new batch is announced, verify its dates, seat limit, course list, selection rules, and learning or certificate conditions in that batch’s own notice. Details can change between batches.

Does the program require a computer or paid equipment?
The cited official material describes online training delivered through an LMS but does not specify a required device model or list mandatory paid equipment. It therefore does not support a claim that learners must buy a particular laptop, headset, or other product. Check the current course and LMS instructions for practical access requirements before enrolling.
