Celebrity Net Worth estimates Dorothy Hamill’s net worth at $6 million. That is a published estimate, not a verified figure: the site does not provide an auditable calculation, a valuation date, or a breakdown of her assets and liabilities. Public reporting documents substantial career opportunities as well as financial setbacks, but it does not establish her current personal wealth.
How much is Dorothy Hamill worth?
The only specific current net-worth figure in the sources cited here is Celebrity Net Worth’s $6 million estimate. Its page does not show the records or method behind the number, so it should be described as the site’s estimate—not as a confirmed account of Hamill’s finances.

There are no independently documented competing current valuations in these sources. Historical earnings, contracts, and business activity offer context about her career, but they cannot be added together to calculate present net worth. Net worth is the value of assets minus liabilities; gross income or a contract value alone does not show how much someone retained.
How Dorothy Hamill made money
Olympic success and professional skating
Hamill won women’s singles gold at the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics and the 1976 world championship. She also earned world silver medals in 1974 and 1975, according to her Team USA Hall of Fame profile. Her Olympic fame created opportunities beyond competition.
#1 Best Overall
The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame biography says Clairol, ABC, and Ice Capades sought contracts with Hamill after her Olympic victory. It also reports that she was the first athlete to earn more than $2 million in each of her first two years as a professional. That is a historical earnings milestone reported by the institution; it is not a measure of her current wealth or of the income she ultimately kept.
Ice Capades, endorsements, and television
A 1993 Los Angeles Times profile described Hamill’s Ice Capades contract as worth a million dollars a year. It also reported that she and partners bought assets of a bankrupt company, including costumes, ice machines, and the Ice Capades name. These dated descriptions concern a contract and a business purchase; they do not establish the value of her present assets.
Rank #2
In a 1991 report on a dispute between Hamill and IMG, the Los Angeles Times quoted IMG executive Robert D. Kain describing her finances and endorsements. Those comments came from one party in a contested business dispute, so they should not be treated as an independent balance-sheet assessment.
A 1994 Washington Post article quoted skating agent Michael Rosenberg saying that top skaters had made over $1 million a year since the mid-1970s. That was an industry comment about top skaters generally, not a documented annual income figure for Hamill.

What is known about Hamill’s financial setbacks?
In 1996, Hamill filed for Chapter 11 protection, according to a contemporaneous Deseret News report. Her lawyer said she attributed her financial setbacks to poor investment advice and management. The report said financial details were not disclosed, so it does not provide the assets, debts, or other figures needed to determine her net worth at that time—much less today.
The filing is a reminder that high reported earnings do not, by themselves, reveal how much wealth someone retained. It does not establish Hamill’s current financial position.

For personal and career context, Hamill’s memoir, A Skating Life: My Story, was published by Hyperion in 2007. Publishers Weekly’s listing identifies the book, and TIME’s 2007 interview discusses it and Hamill’s life. The memoir can provide her perspective, but it is not a current financial disclosure.
