The figures, announced August 11, 2025, show two separate parts of the company’s progress: substantial spending and loss on one side, and manufacturing activity on the other. The production counts describe Archer’s status at that time, not its current aircraft total.
What Archer reported for Q2 2025
Archer’s second quarter ended June 30, 2025. Its quarterly results announcement reported a $206.0 million GAAP net loss and $176.1 million in total operating expenses. The company also reported $1.724 billion in cash and cash equivalents at quarter end. That cash figure is a balance on June 30, not a forecast of how long the funds will last or proof of future commercial viability.
Archer separately reported $123.5 million in non-GAAP operating expenses and an adjusted EBITDA loss of $118.7 million. These supplemental measures exclude certain costs and other items; they do not replace the GAAP net loss or mean the company was profitable. Archer cautions that non-GAAP measures are not standardized under GAAP and may not be comparable across companies. The company’s SEC-filed release describes its definitions and reconciliations.
How many Midnight aircraft were in production?
At the time of the August 11, 2025 announcement, Archer said six Midnight aircraft were in production across its Silicon Valley “golden manufacturing line” and its Georgia facility, with three in final assembly. CEO Adam Goldstein described the activity this way: “This quarter, we ramped aircraft manufacturing across our facilities in California and Georgia with six Midnight aircraft in production, including three in final assembly.” These are company-reported production figures for that announcement, not a live count.

Why was Archer still reporting a loss?
Building aircraft, developing an aviation business and pursuing certification require spending before a company can rely on scaled commercial service for revenue. The Q2 release’s loss and expense figures are the financial side of that effort; the production count is a measure of physical manufacturing progress. Neither number alone establishes whether Archer can achieve its plans, and they should not be collapsed into a single measure of success.
The adjusted EBITDA loss was smaller than the GAAP net loss because the company’s non-GAAP calculation excludes items including other expense, interest income, taxes, depreciation and amortization, a Stellantis warrant expense, and stock-based compensation. Those exclusions can help readers examine selected operating costs, but the resulting figure is not a substitute for the GAAP result.

Did Archer receive FAA production certification?
No production certificate was reported as issued in the Q2 announcement. Archer said FAA reviews and inspections of its manufacturing operations were continuing as part of its production-certificate efforts. Manufacturing aircraft and undergoing regulatory review are distinct milestones; the reported factory activity does not establish that certification is complete or that passenger operations have begun.
Other company-reported program developments
Archer also said it delivered its first Midnight aircraft to the United Arab Emirates and began a flight-test program in Abu Dhabi under a Launch Edition arrangement with Abu Dhabi Aviation and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office. The company further said it had been selected as Official Air Taxi Provider for the LA28 Olympic Games. These are reported program developments and future-facing plans, not evidence that type certification, scaled operations or passenger service had already been achieved.

How to read the production ramp in context
A later Archer Q2 2026 release reported a $263.2 million net loss and continued spending on Midnight flight testing, certification and production activities. That later filing is useful context for understanding that the work continued after 2025, but it does not verify a current aircraft-in-production count. The 2025 figures should therefore remain tied to the date and source that reported them.
