Google TV Streamer Hit a Reported Record-Low $74.99—But the Deal Has Ended

The Google TV Streamer hit a reported low of $74.99 on Amazon in June 2026, but Google listed it at $99.99 on August 18. Here’s what the deal included and whether the box fits your setup.

Amazon discounted the Google TV Streamer (4K) to $74.99 on June 23, 2026, down $25—or 25%—from its $99.99 regular price. 9to5Google called it the device’s lowest price to date, but that was a historical deal, not a price to assume is available now. Google’s U.S. store listed the Streamer at $99.99 when checked August 18, 2026. 9to5Google’s June 23 deal report and Google’s U.S. product page document the two prices.

Was $74.99 really the lowest price?

It was the lowest price reported by 9to5Google at the time of its June 23, 2026 story. The report said Amazon had cut the device from $99.99 to $74.99 during its Prime Day promotional period, and noted that earlier discounts had been around $85. Both Porcelain and Hazel were included in the reported sale; Google identifies Hazel as a U.S. Google Store-exclusive color. Read the deal report and check Google’s color and product information.

“Lowest price reported” is more precise than an independently verified all-time record. A price-history claim may not account for every coupon, bundle, membership offer, open-box listing, or regional seller. The $74.99 figure was also before tax, and a retailer’s price and stock can change.

Is the $74.99 deal still available?

Google’s U.S. store showed the regular $99.99 price on August 18, 2026. The Amazon price is therefore a past deal unless Amazon’s live listing confirms otherwise. An old search result or deal post may continue to show $74.99 after a promotion ends.

If checking Amazon, confirm the seller, whether the unit is new, shipping terms, return policy, and the price for the color you want. Marketplace listings and color availability can differ. For any purchase, compare the final checkout total, including sales tax, rather than relying on a headline price.

What the Google TV Streamer offers

The Google TV Streamer is a set-top streaming box and Google Home smart-home hub. Google introduced it as a faster, more premium successor to Chromecast with Google TV; it runs Android TV OS and uses Google TV to organize recommendations across supported streaming apps. App recommendations do not include the subscriptions themselves. Google’s announcement describes its positioning, while Google’s specifications page lists its hardware.

Streaming and connectivity

  • Up to 4K HDR at 60 frames per second, with Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG support.
  • Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby Atmos audio formats.
  • 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage capacity; the formatted, usable space is lower than the stated capacity.
  • Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and built-in Gigabit Ethernet.
  • USB-C for power/data, HDMI 2.1, and an Ethernet port.

4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, and Atmos depend on the television, content, app, connection, and compatible audio equipment. Format support does not mean every title or streaming service supplies those formats. Ethernet can provide a wired network connection where Wi-Fi is congested, but it cannot guarantee uninterrupted streaming.

Smart-home features and remote

The device supports Matter and has a built-in Thread border router, enabling Google Home controls from the TV with compatible smart-home devices and setup. Those standards do not make every smart-home product compatible automatically. The Voice Remote includes a customizable button, and the remote can be located using a button on the device or a voice command. Gemini for TV availability depends on country, language, device software, account, and internet requirements, so it is not a universal reason to buy.

  • Mirror your laptop screen or turn your tablet into an even better entertainment system; surf the web or see your media on the big screen

Size, colors, and materials

The Streamer measures 6.4 × 3.0 × 1.0 inches and weighs 5.7 ounces. Google lists Porcelain and Hazel, and says the enclosure uses at least 65% recycled plastic. Google’s specifications provide these details.

Budget for the missing HDMI cable

The package includes the Streamer, Voice Remote, two AAA batteries, power adapter, power cable, Quick Start Guide, and safety and warranty documentation. It does not include an HDMI cable. Google says a certified HDMI 2.1 cable is required and sold separately. If you already own a suitable cable, you may not need to buy another; otherwise, include one in your setup budget. Google’s package and cable details spell out the requirement.

Is it worth buying at $74.99?

At the reported sale price, the Streamer cost 25% less than its $99.99 regular price. Its case is strongest for people who will use features beyond basic playback: more app storage, wired Ethernet, Google Home controls, or supported premium video and audio formats. Google also advertises a processor 22% faster than prior Chromecast devices. The hardware upgrade can feel useful when moving from an older or sluggish device, though owners of a responsive Chromecast with Google TV should not assume a dramatic improvement in picture quality.

It makes sense for

  • Someone replacing an older streaming device or a sluggish Chromecast.
  • A Google Home household that wants smart-home controls on the TV.
  • A viewer who needs built-in Ethernet or installs many streaming apps.
  • A buyer whose TV and audio setup can use the Streamer’s supported formats.
  • Someone who specifically wants Google TV and finds the device at $74.99 or less in a verified sale.

It is a weaker fit for

  • People who only need basic HD streaming or want the lowest-cost device.
  • Owners of recent, responsive Google TV hardware who do not need additional storage or Ethernet.
  • Buyers expecting an HDMI cable or streaming subscriptions in the box.
  • Home-theater enthusiasts prioritizing broader codec flexibility, local-media playback, or substantially stronger processing.
  • Anyone purchasing mainly for Gemini features without first confirming availability for their country, language, device, and software.

How it compares with alternatives

Choose by platform and use case, not just by the resolution printed on the box. These alternatives have different interfaces and ecosystems; their prices and exact configurations should be checked on their current product pages.

Option May suit you if… What to weigh
Google TV Streamer (4K) You want Google TV, Google Home integration, built-in Ethernet, or 32GB storage. The reported $74.99 sale has ended; Google listed it at $99.99 on August 18, 2026. HDMI cable is extra.
Roku Ultra You prefer Roku’s interface, search, and platform ecosystem. Check the current model, price, ports, remote features, and supported formats before comparing it feature for feature.
Amazon Fire TV devices Your household relies on Alexa or Amazon’s ecosystem. Fire TV’s interface and account ecosystem differ from Google TV; check the specific device’s current price and features.
Walmart onn. streaming devices Low upfront cost matters more than premium features. Models and listings change; verify the exact device, storage, Ethernet, format support, remote, and update information.
Chromecast with Google TV you already own Your current device still responds well and meets your needs. Upgrading may add storage and smoother performance, but may not transform picture quality for an already capable setup.

What price should you wait for?

$74.99 is a compelling target because it matches the reported June 2026 Amazon sale, while Google’s regular price was $99.99 on August 18. The earlier reported sale level of about $85 suggests that waiting for a promotion may make sense if you do not need the device immediately. At $99.99, compare the alternatives and decide whether the Streamer’s Google Home, Ethernet, and storage features justify paying the regular price for your setup. Verify the live price and seller before ordering; the historical deal does not guarantee another sale at the same price.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
