That price included an automatic-payment credit, and the plan continued data at up to 512Kbps after the high-speed allowance. Bell still lists 175GB Canada/U.S. options, but its current plans, prices and included benefits may differ from the 2025 offer. Treat $75 as the historical launch price, not a confirmed price for a new line today.
What Bell’s $75 plan included at launch
MobileSyrup reported the following terms for Bell’s May 1, 2025 launch. They describe that offer, not necessarily every version Bell currently sells.
| Feature | May 2025 launch terms |
|---|---|
| Monthly price | $75 with an automatic-payment credit; the report did not establish that this was a before-tax price or a price available to every existing customer. |
| Full-speed data | 175GB on Bell 5G+ in Canada and the U.S. |
| After the allowance | Unlimited data at speeds up to 512Kbps. |
| Calling and texting | Unlimited calling and texting in Canada and the U.S., plus unlimited international texting from Canada. |
| Video streaming | 480p by default; the launch report said a $5 monthly add-on raised the limit to 1080p. |
| Hotspot | Hotspot access was reported as included; no separate hotspot allowance was stated. |
| Entertainment | Crave Basic was included. |
| Where to get it | Online and in Bell stores at launch. |
MobileSyrup’s May 1, 2025 launch report is the source for these original offer details.
What 175GB and “unlimited” mean in practice
The 175GB was a full-speed allowance, not a hard cutoff. Once used, data continued at up to 512Kbps. That is a considerable slowdown: messaging, email and basic web pages may remain usable, but video at normal quality, large downloads, cloud backups and sustained hotspot work can become impractical. Music may work depending on its bitrate and the service.

Bell’s current plan wording also describes unlimited data after the high-speed allowance at up to 512Kbps. Check the terms attached to the exact offer, particularly if hotspot use matters: the launch report did not establish a separate tethering pool or a distinct roaming hotspot rule.
The Canada-U.S. coverage has a residency condition
Bell’s current plan page says subscribers must be Canadian residents and that the majority of their usage must be in Canada. The plan is therefore suited to Canadians who travel south while keeping their main usage at home—not to someone who intends to use a Canadian line primarily in the United States. That distinction matters especially to snowbirds, cross-border workers and people spending long stretches stateside.
“Canada-U.S.” also does not automatically mean calls to every country are included. Bell’s current terms distinguish use within covered countries from calls or texts to destinations outside them; those may incur pay-per-use charges. International texting from Canada, as described for the 2025 launch offer, is not the same as international calling.

Bell currently displays some 175GB offers as Canada-U.S.-Mexico plans. That is a different geography from the original Canada-U.S. launch headline, and the exact included countries depend on the specific current offer. See Bell’s current Mobility plan terms and its SmartPay plan page before relying on Mexico or any other coverage.

Bell’s current plan pages, checked August 18, 2026, still list 175GB Canada-U.S. options, but they do not establish that the original single-line $75 offer remains available on the same terms. Current pricing and benefits can vary with line count, activation method, device status, autopay, promotional credits and Bell-service bundles. Some displayed prices are average prices per line, and certain offers are restricted to new activations or customers bringing their own device.
The available information does not establish a single current, generally available $75 price, whether it is before or after tax, or whether an existing Bell customer can move to it without losing other benefits. A displayed price may also exclude a phone’s financing payment. Confirm the complete monthly total and the eligibility rules for the exact line and device before switching; do not assume a current 175GB listing is the same product as the May 2025 plan.

How it compared with other carriers at launch
As historical context, MobileSyrup reported that Bell’s launch matched a Rogers $75/175GB Canada-U.S. offer and followed a Telus $75/150GB Canada-U.S. plan. The report said Rogers’ offer included speeds up to 1Gbps and 1,000 international calling minutes, while Bell’s new plan filled a gap between Bell’s $65/100GB Canada-only plan and its $95/250GB Canada-U.S.-Mexico plan. These are May 2025 comparisons, not verified current prices or terms. Compare today’s offers directly, including eligibility, speed policy, international minutes and credits, rather than treating those figures as live deals. The launch comparison is in MobileSyrup’s report.
When a plan beats paying for roaming
Bell’s U.S. Roam Better option is listed at $13 per day and uses data from the customer’s existing rate plan. Bell says speeds are reduced to up to 512Kbps after 5GB of usage per day, resetting at midnight Eastern Time. At $13 a day, six travel days total $78 in roaming fees, close to the historical $75 monthly plan price—but this is only a rough comparison. The plan comparison must include the underlying Canadian plan cost, and the $75 launch price is not confirmed as a current offer.

Bell also lists fixed-duration U.S. Travel Passes. The prices shown on its roaming page on August 18, 2026 were $30 for three days, $60 for 14 days and $80 for 30 days. The passes use the data in the customer’s existing rate plan and include talk and text within the destination and back to Canada. They activate immediately and expire according to their stated duration, so check the start date before purchase.

Bell’s current roaming details and pass terms are on its coverage and roaming page. Near the border, phones can connect to a U.S. network unintentionally. If your plan does not include U.S. use, Bell advises turning off data roaming or manually selecting Bell while remaining in Canada; restore automatic selection before a U.S. trip and read the roaming welcome message on arrival.

Frequent U.S. travelers and commuters
A monthly Canada-U.S. plan can simplify budgeting for people who cross the border often, want one Canadian number and use enough data that daily roaming charges add up. It is a stronger fit when the subscriber remains eligible under Bell’s residency and majority-usage conditions.
Heavy data users
The 175GB high-speed pool was generous for navigation, work, music, video and hotspot use across a billing period. It does not make the service full-speed after 175GB, so users who routinely exceed that allowance should consider how much of their usage can tolerate 512Kbps.

Occasional vacation travelers
Someone taking only a short U.S. trip may spend less on a pass or daily roaming than by changing a monthly plan. Compare the travel charges with the cost of the new base plan over the full year, not just the days abroad.
Snowbirds and primarily U.S.-based users
Long stays can make a Canada-U.S. plan look attractive, but Bell’s Canadian-residency and majority-usage requirements make it a poor assumption that a Canadian plan can serve as a year-round U.S. line. Verify eligibility before relying on it for a seasonal move.
Before changing plans, check the full cost and terms
- Confirm the exact plan name and covered countries in Bell’s current offer, rather than relying on the 2025 launch description.
- Ask for the monthly service price before and after autopay, bundle and promotional credits, and whether a quoted multi-line figure is an average per line.
- Confirm taxes and any regulatory charges, plus the phone financing or SmartPay amount if you are buying a device.
- Check whether the offer is limited to a new activation, an upgrade or a bring-your-own-device line.
- Ask whether changing plans removes grandfathered discounts or affects device credits, and when the change takes effect.
- Verify the current video-quality limit, hotspot treatment, post-allowance speed and international calling or texting exclusions.
Bell’s live plan page is the place to verify current offers; the checkout and offer-specific terms determine what applies to your account.
