In the United States, standard online card processing is 2.9% + $0.30, but other payment methods cost more. The main trade-offs are country and industry restrictions, verification requirements, potentially delayed payouts, and disruption when switching providers for recurring plans.
Availability and fee information checked August 16, 2026. U.S. fee examples are labeled; rates and eligibility differ by country.
What Wix Payments is—and when it makes sense
Wix Payments is Wix’s integrated payment service for accepting and managing transactions from a Wix site. Depending on your country, business, currency, and Wix product, customers may be able to pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, or buy-now-pay-later services such as Affirm, Afterpay, and Klarna. Wix also offers POS and Tap to Pay in selected regions. Orders, refunds, payouts, and dispute information are managed through Wix tools. Wix’s overview of the service explains its role and regional limits.
It is strongest for merchants who value an integrated Wix workflow over processor independence. It is not automatically the cheapest option: the headline card rate does not apply to every method, and cross-border or currency-conversion charges may add to costs.

Where Wix Payments is available
Wix’s payments page lists these countries and currencies: Austria (EUR), Belgium (EUR), Brazil (BRL), Canada (CAD), Finland (EUR), Germany (EUR), Ireland (EUR), Italy (EUR), Lithuania (EUR), the Netherlands (EUR), Portugal (EUR), Spain (EUR), Switzerland (CHF), the United Kingdom (GBP), and the United States (USD). Wix says Brazil availability is currently limited to existing Wix Payments users. Check the current Wix Payments availability page and your dashboard before choosing a provider; payment methods and eligibility can vary within a country. Wix’s support overview also notes regional differences.
Availability alone does not guarantee approval. Your business type, products, account details, currency, and Wix product can affect which payment methods you can activate.
Wix Payments fees in the United States
The following are the Wix-listed U.S. processing rates as of August 16, 2026. They are transaction fees, not the cost of the Wix website plan.

Source for the table: Wix Payments service fees. Check the page again before launch because rates and availability can change.
What those rates mean on a $100 sale
- A standard U.S. card transaction costs $3.20, leaving $96.80 before other adjustments.
- American Express costs $4.00, leaving $96.00.
- PayPal costs $3.98, leaving $96.02.
- Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay costs $6.30, leaving $93.70.
These are arithmetic calculations from Wix’s listed U.S. rates, not additional fees or guarantees. Wix says a cross-border fee may be added to the standard method fee. For U.S. multi-currency payments, its fee page lists the payment-method fee, a possible 1.5% cross-border fee, and a 1% currency-conversion fee. The site’s main currency and Wix Payments currency also need to be compatible; mismatches may lead to declines. See Apple Pay’s currency and fee notes and Google Pay’s currency and fee notes.

Website-plan cost is separate
You need an eligible Premium or Studio plan that supports accepting payments, in addition to paying transaction fees. Wix does not establish one universal plan price in the account documentation: prices vary by location, promotion, billing term, and plan family. Check Wix’s plan page for the offer available to you; do not treat a plan price as a Wix Payments subscription fee. See Wix’s account-creation requirements.
Eligibility and business restrictions
To apply, your business must be in a supported country, your site must be published and on an eligible plan, and your products or services must be permitted. Be prepared to supply accurate legal, identity, address, business, and bank information. For individuals, Wix says account setup must be completed in the same country where the bank is located. Business accounts generally need the registration country and bank country to match, subject to EU-specific exceptions. Review Wix’s verification process and account-completion requirements.
Wix maintains country-specific prohibited and restricted categories. The U.S. list includes examples such as CBD and THC products, adult goods or services, certain financial and healthcare activities, securities and trading, gambling, some stored-value products, third-party payment processing, and products or practices associated with excessive chargebacks. The exact rules are not universal across countries. Wix says it may hide or delete prohibited products, suspend or close accounts, withhold or block funds, or refund customers. Read the U.S. prohibited-products and services policy before building checkout around a restricted category.
How to set up Wix Payments
Prepare before opening the application
- Publish the site and confirm it has an eligible Premium or Studio plan.
- Gather your legal name, business type, physical address, business description, industry, and tax or registration details where required.
- Have bank details and identification ready. U.S. setup requests a routing number and checking-account number; the account must be a checking account registered to the merchant.
- Choose a statement descriptor between 5 and 19 characters, similar to your business name, legal entity name, or URL.
- Make the site’s products, contact details, shipping information, refund policy, and terms clear. Wix may review the site as well as the information you submit.
For details, see creating an account and business readiness requirements.
Connect and submit the account
- Open your Wix site dashboard and go to Settings > Accept Payments.
- Click Connect next to Wix Payments.
- Choose the payment methods you want to offer, then click Continue.
- Click Complete Setup and select the correct business type.
- Enter the requested identity, business, address, bank, and product or service information. Review the statement descriptor and terms.
- Submit the application and upload any requested verification documents.

Verification issues to prevent
- Ensure names and addresses match bank and registration records, and that the bank account belongs to the same person or entity.
- Use a specific, accurate description of what you sell rather than a vague business summary.
- Provide required tax or registration numbers and use current, readable, uncropped documents.
- Check that the website’s contact, refund, shipping, terms, and product information is visible and consistent with your application.
- Confirm the product category is permitted before accepting orders.
Wix says merchants may accept payments before verification is complete, but payouts require a verified, active account. If additional documents are requested, verification may take up to seven business days. If setup is not completed within 30 days of the first successful payment, Wix says you cannot accept additional payments. Sources: verification process and completing account setup.
Payout timing, reserves, and holds
Do not equate an accepted payment with cleared money in your bank. Wix describes payment processing as usually taking 2–5 business days. Payouts can be scheduled daily, weekly, or monthly, and Wix’s general overview says to allow 3–5 business days for funds to appear in the bank after payout processing. The account must be verified and active, and Wix says the available balance must be at least $1 in the relevant region. Weekends, bank holidays, cut-off times, account status, and bank processing can change the practical arrival date. See receiving payouts and changing your payout schedule.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Daily: Sent each day, subject to cut-off times.
- Weekly: Normally sent every Monday; Wix lets merchants change the weekday.
- Monthly: Normally sent on the first day of the month, with date-selection options.
Wix may impose a rolling reserve, which retains a percentage of payouts for a period, or a one-time reserve, which holds a set amount. It may also place a payout hold because of an account issue. Wix gives an example of a 10% reserve held for 90 days, but that is an example—not a standard term for every merchant. Account-specific reserve terms may be extended after review. Check release dates in the Payouts area and read Wix’s reserve-funds explanation.
Keep enough working cash for refunds and disputes, retain shipping, service-delivery, customer-service, and identity records, and respond promptly to verification requests. Avoid depending on first-week sales to fund immediate costs.
Refunds and chargebacks
Refund economics
Wix says it does not charge a separate refund fee, but it does not return the original processing fee. On a $100 standard U.S. card sale, the $3.20 processing fee remains a cost even if you refund the customer. Wix supports partial refunds; its U.S. guidance generally does not allow a refund below $1, subject to its rights and the payment method. Refund windows vary by method: Affirm and Afterpay up to 120 days, Klarna up to 180 days, and PayPal through Wix Payments up to 180 days. Check Wix’s refund instructions and its fee schedule.

Dispute exposure
A chargeback can remove the disputed transaction amount from your available balance. Wix lists a U.S. chargeback fee of $15. You can accept or dispute the chargeback in the Wix dashboard. Wix says the fee and disputed funds can be returned if you win; do not treat recovery as guaranteed. Useful evidence may include delivery confirmation, invoices, customer communications, usage records, proof the product or service matched its description, and evidence that the customer accepted the refund policy. See Wix’s chargeback-fee guidance.
Limitations that matter before you commit
Country, currency, and payment-method fit
Payment methods depend on country, business type, currency, product, and eligibility. Apple Pay and Google Pay are documented for Wix Stores, Bookings, and Events in supported markets. Wix permits only one provider for debit- and credit-card payments at a time, though additional providers may be connected for alternative methods. A method that is available in Wix generally may still impose its own rules or product restrictions.
Recurring plans make switching harder
For Wix Pricing Plans with recurring billing, the provider must support recurring payments in the region; manual or offline payments are not available for recurring plans. Wix says active recurring plans must be canceled before switching providers, after which customers need to repurchase. That creates potential administrative work and customer churn for memberships, subscriptions, and recurring services. Review Wix’s Pricing Plans payment setup guidance before launch.
Cash-flow control is not fully in your hands
Verification, reserves, payout holds, payment processing, and bank schedules can all delay usable funds. This matters most if your business has tight working capital, high refund exposure, or a launch whose fulfillment costs depend on immediate settlement.

| Option | Potential fit | What to weigh |
|---|---|---|
| Wix Payments | Wix-first businesses seeking integrated orders, payments, payouts, and disputes. | Regional and industry eligibility, method-specific fees, verification and payout controls, and recurring-plan switching requirements. |
| Stripe through Wix | Merchants who want an independent processor and a broader payments ecosystem. | Wix’s Stripe integration page lists U.S. processing at 2.9% + $0.30, while Stripe controls its own terms, fees, payouts, and disputes; some operations may happen outside Wix. See Wix’s Stripe connection details and Stripe. |
| PayPal | Merchants who want a recognizable wallet option for customers. | Wix lists U.S. PayPal at 3.49% + $0.49 and PayPal Pay Later at 4.99% + $0.49. PayPal also has its own account controls and dispute processes. See PayPal Business. |
| Square | Businesses with meaningful in-person sales that want to evaluate a POS-centered setup. | Wix lists Square as a possible third-party provider, but availability and integration scope vary. Confirm region, recurring-payment support, and whether Wix or Square POS better fits your operation. See Square and Wix’s payment setup guidance. |
Compare the complete operating fit, not just a headline card rate: country and currency, cross-border costs, refunds, disputes, payout schedules, recurring billing, industry approval, reporting, in-person sales, and switching effort. Wix’s supported-provider list changes by region, so use the Accept Payments dashboard rather than assuming every provider is available to every merchant.

Which businesses should choose Wix Payments?
- Good fit: A standard Wix Store or service business in a supported country, selling permitted goods or services mainly in its local currency and wanting a unified dashboard.
- Compare alternatives: A subscription or membership business, a cross-border seller, a merchant with substantial BNPL volume, or a business that needs specialized reporting, billing, or processor portability.
- Do not assume eligibility: A business selling regulated or restricted products, or operating in an unsupported country. Check the applicable prohibited-products policy and account eligibility before taking orders.
- For in-person sales: Compare Wix POS and Tap to Pay with the hardware and operational features you actually need; Wix lists U.S. rates of 2.6% + $0 for Wix POS and 2.6% + $0.20 for Tap to Pay on its fee page.
Common problems and what to check
Connected, but payouts are unavailable
Open Settings > Accept Payments, select Wix Payments, and review the account-status message. Complete missing identity, bank, and business details; make sure records match; upload legible documents; and contact Wix support if the dashboard does not explain the hold. See verification guidance and payout guidance.
Payments were accepted, then new payments stopped
Check whether the 30-day completion deadline from the first successful payment passed. Complete outstanding setup and contact Wix support; do not assume previously accepted payments will become available immediately. See account-completion guidance.
A payout arrived later than expected
Check whether the payment is still processing, the account is verified and active, and the payout schedule and cut-off time are what you expect. Then check weekends, bank holidays, reserve funds, payout-hold notices, refunds, chargebacks, and any negative balance. The payout guidance describes these timing factors.
A transaction is declined because of currency
Confirm that the site currency is compatible with the Wix Payments account currency and that the method supports the transaction currency. Customer-presentment currency and settlement currency are not necessarily the same. See the currency notes for Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Recommended Free Tools
A payment method rejects a product Wix Payments otherwise accepts
Alternative payment providers can have additional restrictions. Check the specific provider’s rules—for example, Wix’s Klarna qualification terms and Affirm payment-method details—as well as the general prohibited-products policy.
