Its central membership experiment, the Forbes Legacy Pass, was announced as 1,917 non-transferable, soulbound NFTs on Ethereum. The initiatives may create access and visibility for entrepreneurs, but the interview does not establish that they have produced funding, revenue, customers or measurable business growth.
What Forbes says it is trying to do in Web3
Forbes frames Web3 as a possible next phase for media and community: blockchain-based credentials, digital ownership, loyalty, content access and new ways for people to interact with a brand. In a November 2024 interview with TechBullion, Ahmed described the strategy as an extension of Forbes’ focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, and said the company wanted to experiment before Web3 reached mass adoption.
That is Forbes’ strategic thesis, not proof that blockchain will become the dominant media model. Forbes’ own Web3 overview associates the term with blockchain-enabled digital ownership and community participation. In practice, the Forbes initiatives discussed here span several distinct experiments: NFTs, selected content access, events, a membership club, loyalty rewards and a virtual-world presence.
Who is Taha Ahmed?
The interview identifies Ahmed as Forbes’ Chief Growth Officer and Head of Web3. He describes working with Forbes’ CEO and chief digital officer on corporate and growth strategy, while leading a Web3 team responsible for product initiatives, community development and experiences for entrepreneurs and investors. These role details come from the interview; Forbes’ announcements cited below establish the initiatives, not a separate account of his responsibilities.

What is the Forbes Legacy Pass?
Forbes announced the Legacy Pass on March 18, 2024, as a membership club for Web3 creators and entrepreneurs. The announcement describes 1,917 passes built on Ethereum and designed as soulbound, non-transferable NFTs. In other words, the pass was presented as a membership credential, not a collectible intended for resale. Forbes described a waitlist and said benefits would be revealed through a roadmap.
Ahmed’s interview describes potential or selective benefits including Forbes subscription perks, access to events such as the 30 Under 30 Summit, interaction with the Forbes Web3 team, invitations to conferences and opportunities to collaborate on projects. The interview does not establish that every holder receives every benefit, that access is guaranteed, or that those terms remain available now. Forbes’ original announcement is the clearest source for the pass’s design and initial framing: the Legacy Pass announcement.
A soulbound credential has a trade-off: it can represent membership without creating a resale market, but a holder cannot transfer it if the benefits diminish. The blockchain record also does not, by itself, guarantee ongoing access. A member still depends on the services, event organizers, websites and partners that deliver the utility.

How the initiatives could help entrepreneurs
Access and introductions
A curated community can be useful if it creates relevant introductions among founders, investors, creators and operators. Ahmed describes the Legacy Pass as a way to bring such groups together and says selected projects might receive network support or collaboration opportunities. The interview does not specify a public selection process, formal incubation program, investment commitment or guaranteed introductions.

Events and content
Forbes’ wallet-based Connect Wallet initiative offered free access to selected premium Forbes Digital Assets content. Forbes announced the feature in January 2024 and identified Magic as its wallet-technology partner. The announcement establishes a content-access experiment; it does not show that a wallet is required for all Forbes content or that the offer is currently available. See Forbes’ Connect Wallet announcement.
Events can also offer networking and exposure, but the value depends on eligibility, location, capacity and the quality of the connections made. The interview mentions event access as a benefit, without documenting the terms for each event or outcomes for member businesses.
Education, artist discovery and visibility
Ahmed describes collaborations intended to recognize Web3 educators and creators, including work involving Animoca Brands and Open Campus. He also discusses artist-focused activity involving Rarible and Arts DAO, including a reported winning artwork displayed on Times Square billboards. Such opportunities can create visibility; they are not equivalent to paid work, customer acquisition or sustained audience growth.
Loyalty and rewards
In September 2024, Forbes announced a partnership with qiibee Foundation on a blockchain-based loyalty platform. The announcement described possible rewards including gift cards, charitable donations, airline miles and community points, with Legacy Pass holders receiving priority. Those were announced plans, not evidence that each reward was universally available or remains redeemable. The announcement does not establish current program status: Forbes’ qiibee partnership announcement.

Forbes’ Web3 projects are separate experiments
The initiatives are related by brand and subject, but they are not one product. Forbes’ public announcements show a sequence of different experiments:
Rank #4
- 2021: Forbes turned a magazine cover into an NFT, as described in the interview.
- April 2022: Forbes announced a virtual Billionaires NFT collection. The announcement describes an earlier collectible and metaverse experiment: Forbes’ virtual Billionaires NFT announcement.
- January 2024: Connect Wallet offered access to selected premium Digital Assets content, with Magic identified as the technology partner.
- February 2024: Forbes announced a permanent presence in The Sandbox for community interaction, events and interactive experiences: the Sandbox announcement.
- March 2024: Forbes announced the Legacy Pass membership concept.
- September 2024: Forbes announced the qiibee loyalty-platform partnership.
- Other editorial experiments: The interview also points to Forbes publishing its Under 30 list on Ethereum and hosting Digital Assets and Web3 events. Forbes’ Web3 archive provides a broader record of its coverage and announcements.
Other partnerships described in the interview serve different purposes. Coinbase was associated with Forbes Web3’s reported strategic-partner role in Coinbase’s Onchain Summer program; sleap.io was described as a way to redeem travel credits for hotels and airline bookings. The interview names these relationships but does not establish that they remain active or that the associated benefits are currently available.

Ahmed cited more than 100,000 people on a Legacy Pass waitlist, growth of more than 160,000 followers for Forbes Web3’s X account in under a year, and more than 200,000 mints for the Coinbase-linked Inspire collection in three days. These figures are claims in the November 2024 interview, not independently demonstrated performance data in the cited Forbes announcements.
The interview does not clarify whether the waitlist figure represents unique, qualified applicants or whether “applications” and “waitlist entries” were counted alike. A mint count can represent transactions rather than distinct people. None of the figures establishes retention, revenue, customer acquisition, investment, or business growth for entrepreneurs.

Trust, privacy and practical risks
Ahmed says Forbes intends to rely on quality content, transparency, education, ethical partnerships and its existing reputation. Those are goals; readers still need to evaluate how a particular benefit or promotion is presented and delivered. Forbes’ Connect Wallet announcement referred to “investment signals and expert advice,” but that wording should not be mistaken for individualized financial advice or evidence of investment performance.
- Check editorial and commercial boundaries. Look for clear disclosure when a partner, event or product has a commercial relationship with Forbes.
- Treat wallet prompts cautiously. Wallet connection can expose public wallet activity, while signing a transaction or message can carry risks. Never share a seed phrase, and do not approve an unfamiliar signature just to claim a benefit.
- Understand dependence on intermediaries. A credential may live on a blockchain while access still depends on a Forbes-controlled site, wallet provider, event organizer or rewards partner.
- Do not confuse membership with investment. The Legacy Pass was described as a non-transferable membership credential, not an investment promising a return.
- Expect benefits and partner availability to change. A partner’s closure, a platform change or geographic restrictions can make a previously announced utility unavailable.
Questions to ask before joining a Web3 community
- Which benefits are available now, and which were only announced or described as possibilities?
- Is membership open, invite-only or waitlist-based, and who makes selection decisions?
- Is there a fee, and what are the geographic or event-capacity limits?
- Is a wallet necessary? What information is collected when it is connected?
- Are introductions, event access or project collaborations guaranteed, or discretionary?
- What happens to access if a partner or platform stops operating?
- Would the community still be useful if you do not buy or hold a digital asset?
Forbes’ interview presents a substantial ambition: using its brand and network to convene people building in Web3. The documented initiatives show experimentation with access, membership, events, NFTs and loyalty; they do not yet establish that blockchain itself creates entrepreneurial success. For founders, the practical test is whether a specific benefit is available, valuable and reliable enough to justify the time, wallet exposure and dependence on a changing partner ecosystem.
