Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra pre-orders in Canada ran from January 22 through February 6, 2025; general availability began February 7. Those launch deals have expired, so this is a retrospective guide—not a list of offers currently available. At launch, Samsung Canada was the clearest fit for buyers seeking an unlocked phone and a valuable trade-in. Carrier financing could lower the advertised device payment, but the plan requirement and any deferred return amount determined the real cost.
What the Galaxy S25 Ultra cost at launch in Canada
Samsung’s Canadian launch prices were before sales tax. The 512GB model cost CA$180 more than the 256GB model; the 1TB model was CA$360 more than the 512GB version. Samsung-exclusive colours could have different availability, even where the listed price was the same.
| Storage | Canadian launch MSRP |
|---|---|
| 256GB | CA$1,918.99 |
| 512GB | CA$2,098.99 |
| 1TB | CA$2,458.99 |
These are historical launch MSRPs, not current sale prices. Samsung Canada’s S25 trade-in offer page documents the Canadian pricing and promotion terms.
Samsung Canada’s pre-order offer: calculate the stack, not one headline discount
Samsung Members launch material advertised up to CA$550 in promotional trade-in credit during the pre-order window, on top of the assessed value of an eligible old device. It also described up to 30% off selected Galaxy Watch Ultra and/or Galaxy Buds3 Pro purchases for qualifying pre-orders. The maximum credit was not a guaranteed trade-in value: the actual total depended on the phone submitted and its assessment. Samsung Members’ Canadian launch post describes the offer.

- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
SamMobile separately reported a CA$200 code, S25SERIES2025. Treat that as secondary coverage of a reported code, not as an independently verified Samsung term; its availability, eligibility and stackability are not established by the cited official terms. SamMobile’s Canadian pre-order coverage reports the code.
To compare a Samsung checkout quote with another offer, separate the components:
- Phone price for the storage tier you want.
- Assessed value of your trade-in, plus any promotional trade-in credit.
- Any coupon or account-specific discount that actually applies to your order.
- Value of accessory discounts, counted only if you would have bought those items anyway.
- Financing terms and any cost or obligation if you return the phone.
Do not count a discounted accessory as cash saved if it is something you would not otherwise buy. Samsung’s terms also restrict combining promotions unless they expressly say otherwise.

Was there a Canadian free storage upgrade?
The Canadian source material establishes separate launch MSRPs for 256GB, 512GB and 1TB, but does not establish a Canadian free upgrade from 256GB to 512GB. Offers in other countries do not prove that the same promotion applied in Canada. Secondary user reports saying Canada missed the upgrade are anecdotal, so they do not settle the question either.
How Samsung trade-in worked—and where the risk sat
Under Samsung Canada’s documented S25 trade-in terms, one eligible device could be submitted per qualifying S25-series phone. The old phone had to belong to the customer, have been purchased in Canada, and have a verifiable serial number or IMEI. Online trade-ins were handled through Assurant. The documented later promotion accepted eligible devices in any condition subject to verification and a minimum qualifying value of CA$0; “any condition” did not mean every device received the maximum promotional credit.
After the new phone shipped, the customer received a prepaid waybill and had 21 calendar days from receipt of that waybill to send the old device under the documented terms. A material difference between the declared and actual condition could lead to a reduced value, rejection or a non-return charge. Samsung’s trade-in terms also say the old phone cannot be recovered if the new phone is later returned. Review the offer terms for the specific promotion before shipping: the later February rules should not be assumed to be identical to every pre-order term. See Samsung’s S25 promotion terms and Samsung Canada trade-in information.

Before you send an old phone
- Confirm the device’s IMEI or serial number and disclose its condition accurately.
- Back up your data, sign out of accounts, remove payment cards and disable device locks as required.
- Factory-reset the phone only after confirming the backup is complete.
- Meet the stated shipping deadline and keep the waybill and proof of shipment.
- Assume the traded-in phone will not be returned if you later return the S25 Ultra.
Carrier financing: a lower payment is not necessarily a lower total
Carrier offers can look cheaper because the advertised monthly device payment may exclude the rate plan, activation costs, taxes or a final amount owed if you keep the phone. A return program is not ordinary financing: the customer generally has to return the device in acceptable condition or settle the deferred amount to own it.
A Best Buy Canada listing showed a Rogers Galaxy S25 Ultra 256GB at CA$25 per month for 24 months, alongside a listed full device price of CA$2,320 and a CA$150 Best Buy gift card activation perk. The listing was tied to Rogers Save & Return, so the monthly figure alone does not establish the cost of keeping the phone. A separate Freedom Mobile listing showed 256GB at CA$51 per month for 24 months with a listed full device price of CA$1,919, and 512GB at CA$58.50 per month for 24 months with a listed full device price of CA$2,099. These are post-launch listing examples, not pre-order deals or guaranteed current offers; prices, inventory and perks can change.
| Best Buy listing example | Device payment shown | Other listed detail |
|---|---|---|
| Rogers, 256GB | CA$25/month for 24 months | Full device price CA$2,320; CA$150 gift card activation perk; Save & Return terms apply |
| Freedom Mobile, 256GB | CA$51/month for 24 months | Full device price CA$1,919; keep-it structure shown |
| Freedom Mobile, 512GB | CA$58.50/month for 24 months | Full device price CA$2,099; keep-it structure shown |
Check the listing and carrier contract for the required plan, device-return or buyout amount, bill credits, activation fee, taxes and early-cancellation consequences. Rogers Save & Return requires settlement of the deferred amount to keep the phone. Freedom TradeUp terms require payment of remaining device and TradeUp balances if service is cancelled. The Best Buy Canada S25 Ultra plans category lists models across Rogers, Bell, TELUS, Koodo, Freedom Mobile and Fido, but a listing alone does not establish a comparable final total for every carrier.

How to compare the real cost over two years
Use the same ownership outcome and the same time period for each offer. For a carrier deal, estimate:
Device payments + required plan cost + activation fees + taxes and applicable fees + deferred return amount if keeping the phone − bill credits − gift cards − trade-in value.
For a fair comparison, include only the portion of a plan that is genuinely incremental. If you already pay for an eligible plan and would keep it anyway, the whole plan bill is not a phone cost; if a deal forces you onto a more expensive plan, include that added cost over the term. A gift card reduces your cost only to the extent you can use it for something you would otherwise buy. Check whether credits depend on keeping the line active and whether cancelling early accelerates balances.

Compare return and keep scenarios separately
- Return the phone: include the device payments and required plan cost, then confirm the return condition and deadline. Do not count the deferred amount as payable only if the contract confirms it is waived upon a compliant return.
- Keep the phone: add the full deferred or buyout amount to the payments already made, along with plan and fee costs.
- Buy unlocked: start with the purchase price after verified discounts and trade-in value, then add tax. Compare financing separately; a monthly payment does not reduce the price by itself.
This is why a CA$25 monthly phone can cost more overall than an unlocked phone: the plan premium or keep-it settlement can outweigh the lower device line.
Financing and bundles: useful, but not the same as savings
Samsung Canada documented 0% APR financing through Affirm for up to 24 months during a February 7–26, 2025 promotion, subject to credit approval. That offer came after pre-orders and has expired. Zero-percent financing changes payment timing; it is not a price reduction. Read the repayment and eligibility terms before treating a financed purchase as equivalent to paying in full. Details are on Samsung Canada’s financing offer page.
The launch coverage’s selected-accessory discount was up to 30% on eligible Galaxy Watch Ultra and/or Galaxy Buds3 Pro items. Samsung also offered a 50% Samsung Care+ discount for February 7–10, 2025, after pre-orders had ended. Both are historical offers, not current perks. A protection plan or accessory discount has personal value only if it suits your needs; it is not equivalent to a cash discount. See the Samsung Care+ launch bundle terms.
Which buying route fit each kind of buyer?
| Buyer profile | Best route to evaluate | Why—and what to check |
|---|---|---|
| Wants unlocked ownership | Samsung Canada direct | Launch offer combined promotional credit with assessed trade-in value; confirm actual trade-in quote, colour availability and current price. |
| Has a valuable eligible Samsung, Pixel or iPhone to trade | Samsung Canada direct, compared with resale or carrier trade-in | Compare the full assessed value plus promotional credit, not the advertised maximum alone; consider shipping and no-return trade-in risk. |
| Already has a suitable carrier plan | Carrier financing through the existing carrier or Best Buy activation | May be attractive if the plan is already a fit and credits are real; examine any return amount and cancellation balance. |
| Switching carriers for the phone | Compare two-year combined cost across providers | Include required plan price, activation, device balance, credits, gift card value and the cost of leaving early. |
| Wants a retailer activation incentive | Best Buy carrier activation | The consulted Rogers listing showed a CA$150 gift card, but verify eligible plan, activation conditions and offer availability. |
| Needs more storage for video or offline media | 512GB as the middle tier; compare 1TB if usage warrants it | At launch, 512GB was CA$180 above 256GB and 1TB was another CA$360. No Canadian free storage upgrade is established here. |
| Upgrades every two years and does not need to keep the phone | Carrier return program, if the full term cost is lower | Read return condition, deadline, plan requirement and the amount due if you keep the device. |
For a buyer with a broken old phone, Samsung’s later documented promotion allowed eligible devices in any condition, but verification and the actual assessed value still mattered. For a no-trade-in buyer, compare the outright price and carrier total without assigning value to a trade-in credit they cannot receive.
What is current, and what is historical?
The CA$550 Samsung promotional trade-in credit, reported CA$200 code, accessory discounts, Samsung Care+ discount and launch financing described above belong to the 2025 launch period, not a live pre-order window. The Best Buy device-payment examples are post-launch listings captured in the available material; they can change and should be checked directly before purchase. The Samsung, Rogers, Freedom and retailer pages linked above are the relevant places to verify current price, stock, eligibility and contract terms. No current final price for each Canadian carrier is established by these historical launch details.
