Medbridge announced on October 21, 2024, that it had acquired Rehab Boost, a Miami-based company developing camera-based movement analysis for rehabilitation. Medbridge said it would relaunch the technology as Medbridge Motion Capture and integrate it into Medbridge AI and its Pathways digital musculoskeletal-care platform. The companies did not disclose financial terms.
What Medbridge acquired
Rehab Boost, founded in 2020, developed AI-assisted software that uses a camera-enabled device to recognize body position and analyze therapeutic exercise. Medbridge described the acquisition as a way to bring motion-capture and movement-analysis capabilities in-house. The announcement did not disclose the purchase price, deal structure, or number of employees transferred. Medbridge’s announcement and GeekWire’s contemporaneous coverage both reported undisclosed terms.
Medbridge said Rehab Boost would become Medbridge Motion Capture, a component of Medbridge AI. The deal followed Medbridge’s earlier use of motion capture in Pathways. The company also said it had evaluated more than 30 solutions before choosing Rehab Boost; that is Medbridge’s account, not an independently audited comparison.
How the motion-capture technology is intended to work
Medbridge describes Motion Capture as camera-based analysis that can run on a phone, tablet, laptop, or another camera-equipped device, without requiring wearables or dedicated sensors. During a therapeutic exercise, the software is intended to detect movement, compare it with a model, and provide feedback. Medbridge says its scoring can include quantitative measures such as repetitions and sets, qualitative movement assessment, and pain-related input. Medbridge’s product page outlines these capabilities; MobiHealthNews described the camera-based approach at the time of the acquisition.

This is not evidence that the system offers the precision of a laboratory optical-marker setup or that its scores are validated clinical outcome measures. Camera angle, lighting, clothing, device quality, and body parts hidden from view can affect what a vision system detects. A score is a product metric that a clinician may interpret alongside symptoms, history, and examination—not a substitute for that judgment.
Where it fits in Medbridge’s care platform
Pathways is a provider-facing digital musculoskeletal-care platform. Medbridge currently describes it as combining AI-assisted motion capture and virtual triage with guided exercise programs, phased progression, reminders, remote therapeutic monitoring, telehealth, patient-reported outcomes, and progress tracking. That makes Motion Capture a capability within a broader clinical workflow, rather than simply a renamed standalone Rehab Boost app. Medbridge’s Pathways page describes the platform’s features and commercial positioning.

Strategically, putting movement analysis alongside exercise plans and progress tracking could give clinicians more information about how a patient performs exercises outside a clinic. It could also make digital programs more interactive. Those are plausible benefits of the integration, not proof that the deal improved clinical outcomes, lowered costs, or increased adherence.
Leadership and integration
Medbridge identified Rehab Boost founder Paul Jaure as its new Head of AI. Garth Savidge, whom Medbridge described as a Rehab Boost leader and practicing physical therapist, joined as Director of Commercial Operations. Medbridge said Savidge brought clinical and workflow experience, including work as a physical therapist at Massachusetts General Hospital. These roles and background are from Medbridge’s acquisition announcement.

The public announcement establishes the product rebrand and the stated integration strategy, but it does not explain whether Rehab Boost customers kept their existing contracts, had to migrate accounts, or saw changes to pricing, APIs, or support. It also does not establish whether every Rehab Boost employee or customer moved to Medbridge.
What is established about clinical evidence—and what is not
Medbridge’s public product descriptions explain intended functions, but the materials cited here do not quantify the system’s sensitivity, specificity, inter-rater reliability, or performance across patient populations. They also do not establish regulatory clearance or provide independent evidence that use of the technology improves outcomes. Providers considering it should ask for validation data relevant to their patient populations and workflows, and distinguish engagement or movement scores from evidence of functional improvement.

A Medbridge-authored hybrid-care white paper reported mixed participant feedback on motion capture: some valued its convenience and interactivity, while others found scoring context unclear or assessments inconsistent. Medbridge said newer capabilities obtained through the Rehab Boost acquisition addressed those issues. The white paper records participant feedback and the company’s account of its response; it is not, by itself, independent validation of the newer system.
Clinical interpretation matters in cases involving severe mobility limits, assistive devices, unusual anatomy, or complex neurologic conditions. A camera may miss clinically important movement, and a change in score could reflect camera positioning or compensatory movement rather than functional progress. Pain reports, movement-quality scores, and repetitions measure different things and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Questions clinics should resolve before adopting it
- Workflow: Can clinicians review, annotate, or contextualize automated feedback, and does it appear alongside the care plan?
- Patient and setting: Can patients position the camera and exercise safely in their home environment? Confirm device and browser compatibility, connectivity, lighting, and how the system handles occlusion, floor exercises, multiple people, and assistive devices.
- Evidence: Ask whether scores have been compared with therapist ratings or validated instruments, and request performance information for the conditions and populations the clinic treats.
- Data governance: Ask what information is collected, whether video is stored or only derived movement data is retained, where processing occurs, and what consent, retention, and privacy disclosures apply. The cited public product descriptions do not answer these implementation-specific questions.
- Economics: Model seat fees, episode charges, included exercise-program volume, implementation and integration costs, and staff time to review results. Reimbursement assumptions depend on payer mix and geography; request a written quote rather than relying on a general ROI claim.
Commercial availability and pricing context
Medbridge currently markets AI-powered motion capture within its Care and Pathways offerings, rather than as a standalone consumer app. The company’s pricing pages are configuration-dependent. In pages reviewed in August 2026, one small-business pricing view showed $329 per seat per year for listed configurations, while the annual cost calculator showed different plan figures: Care Essentials at $169 per seat, Medbridge Essentials at $329, and Care Elite at $209. These are date-stamped displayed prices, not a universal quote or guarantee of current rates. The pages also show usage charges that vary by plan, including $1.50 for an additional HEP episode under Care Essentials and $10 per RTM or Pathways episode for Care Elite. See the business pricing page and annual cost calculator for the configurations described.
Organizations with 50 or more seats are directed to request a demo and discuss pricing. Clinics should confirm the current plan, included usage, episode fees, implementation, integrations, data handling, support, and cancellation terms in a written quote. Medbridge’s demo page provides the sales route for larger organizations.
