No reliable public source reviewed establishes David Lee Roth’s exact current net worth. Online figures conflict: Celebrity Net Worth shows both $40 million and $60 million on the same page, while ComingSoon gives a $60 million estimate for 2025 without explaining its calculation. Treat these as unverified estimates, not confirmed wealth.
What net-worth estimates are reported?
The figures most often presented as Roth’s net worth are editorial estimates, not documented financial disclosures. Celebrity Net Worth’s page, updated April 24, 2026, lists $40 million in its headline but says $60 million in the article body. That internal discrepancy makes the page an unreliable basis for choosing a precise figure. Celebrity Net Worth

What does Roth’s reported catalog sale tell us?
In an Associated Press backstage interview at Coachella in April 2026, Roth disclosed that he had sold his music publishing catalog in 2025 and said he felt “rich” afterward, according to Guitar.com. The transaction price was not disclosed in the reviewed reporting. Guitar.com

A publishing catalog concerns rights to musical compositions; it should not be assumed to include sound-recording masters. The reported sale is a significant wealth-related event, but without the sale price, exact rights transferred, or details of Roth’s other finances, it cannot establish his current net worth. A transaction amount, even if disclosed, would also not equal net worth: taxes, fees, liabilities, and other assets affect the final balance.
Why career figures don’t equal personal wealth
Roth’s financial background includes decades as Van Halen’s original lead vocalist, a solo recording career, touring, and writing. Biography.com also notes his 1997 autobiography, Crazy from the Heat. These activities show multiple potential sources of income, but the reviewed sources do not document his individual contracts, royalty rates, expenses, taxes, assets, or debts.

- Rhino Entertainment said in a January 9, 2025 announcement that Roth’s work with Van Halen and his solo releases accounted for more than 70 million records worldwide. That is a label-published career sales figure, not Roth’s personal proceeds. Rhino Entertainment
- The Guardian reported that the 1983 US Festival, headlined by Van Halen, drew 375,000 attendees and that the band’s reported fee was $1.5 million. The fee was for the band’s appearance, not an amount attributed entirely to Roth. The Guardian
Record sales and concert fees are gross career or event figures. They do not reveal what Roth personally received or retained after contracts, costs, taxes, and other financial obligations.

A useful estimate should identify its date and method, distinguish reported transactions from editorial guesses, and explain whether it accounts for both assets and liabilities. It should also separate personal income from band revenue or sales totals. The figures above do not provide enough detail to support a reliable calculation.

- Live in New Haven, CT 1986 captures the band’s newly retooled lineup of Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Michael Anthony in raw, peak form during their triumphant ‘5150’ tour. Two consecutive New Haven summer shows were originally recorded for Van Halen’s ‘Live Without A Net’ video release. This performance features the band tearing through an exhilarating mix of hits, album cuts, covers, and soon-to-be classics.
Roth told The Guardian in 2012, “I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor. Rich is better.” That is his personal description, not a statement of his current net worth. The Guardian
